Hawaii is one of my favorite places. My last visit there was in July 2008. My husband and I both went but he had to work. Fortunately he was able to get a few days off. Our hotel was only a short distance from Waikiki beach. While we did visit that beach several times we decided to spent a day at Hanauma Bay. The Bay is incredible. The water there is calm and the conditions perfect for snorkeling. I had never snorkeled before and was a bit nervous but it was so much fun. Seeing the coral up close was amazing. I was scared of getting cut on it but never even managed to nick myself. While enjoying the sights on shore we were entertained by a wild chicken and rooster. They were wild only in the sense that they were not domesticated and lived on the beach. They kept following each other onto everyone's blankets and even went into a few back packs. It was quite funny to watch. After taking a swim I returned back to our mat only to have a young boy tell me I had almost sat on the chicken. Apparently in our absence the chicken decided to crawl under my mat and nestle down. I shooed her out and she sat at the edge of my mat. She was not bothering me so I let her sit there. A short while later a lady approached me and asked if I had seen the present the chicken had left me. Thinking the worst I looked around my mat. The chicken was gone but she had indeed left me a little egg as a present. I thought this was so neat. I think an egg is suppose to me good luck. When we left the beach I was so reluctant to leave the little egg behind but felt that I should not take it. What an absolute perfect day.
