My friend thinks i am anthiest..what is that?

I am catholic by birth, and I only say that because i haven't practiced my denominational faith as subscribed since 1974. But i have been thru enough life and death to know there is a God..and how i understand this entity is all i need to know to keep my faith in tact for my own personal peace. How do you keep balance in a world that constantly pushes it's views on you? I have simply submitted my resignation and said..I am American Indian and i follow my heart, the clues from nature, and all spirit guides that come to me either human or animal, or what ever. And i do my best to walk in peace with myself and others. Is that an atheist?
