Giving Respect

I have a relative who happened to be my mom's sister, she is already old... but i didnt remember anything that she been good to us, and she always said negative things to our other relatives.. everytime i see her, my mom wants me to give respect, but im very outspoken person, i dont feel like giving her respect coz i beleive she didnt deserve it... so, Why is it very hard to give respect when u already lost it?

Respect is something you earn from others, not something that is just automatically given. However, it's also good to 'respect' your elders, in that you don't necessarily have to agree with them, or even like them, but because they are your elders you should just be polite to them. I can agree with you in that with a relative like that it is not easy to do. But, if it's someone you don't see very often then it shouldn't be too hard to do.
