Do you make notes in your diary everyday. And those who do, do you look back at your old entries and see how your life has changed?

I don't keep one everyday but I usually write in it several times a month. yes, I go back and read it to. Sometimes I like knowing that I am moving forward and at other times it seems I am going backwards, but my diary helps me to know where I don't need to go again because I have already been there.

I do maintain a personal diary. But I don't make notes of every day stuff.. I only take its shoulder when I am feeling low or some things is very very good and happy to remember the whole of my life. In fact I maintain two diaries.. One is for my life all alone.. and another is for my heart breaks in my love life.. I only write in that diary when the chapter of a guy is closed in my life this is my way of forgetting the guy.... write it and forget about it. And then when I read it again I see how it wasn't my true love.. how my feelings have changed from him (them... lol) The name of my diary is "my love book"

uhh.. I have two entries in "my love book".. till today.. though I had about 4 relationships till today .. but those two are the one in which I actually got serious... but I never cheated any one of them..

May I ask you how many entries are there in all in your "love book"...or is that a secret. Seriously it is good to maintain a diary where one day we can look back and see what went wrong and may be improve ourselves. And it is good to look back at the good things in life.

I know that writing a personal diary could be the best source of inspiration and for checking how and what did we think about a particular person or issue. I used to write long time ago, but later on I gave it up. Now a days, I do not write any diary due to one reasons or another. Now a days, I feel sharing my thoughts and views on mylot has become like diary entries and writing few articles on Associated Contents is also like a part of diary, which hopefully I'll enjoy, if I read those articles after a considerable period of time.

Yes, I agree with you that mylot is like writing a diary entry. Only problem occurs when someone else read your diary. You do not want to share your very inner thoughts with everyone.

It is fun reading back on your old entries in diaries. I start writing a diary every year but then after a couple of months I tend to loose interest. The other reason I stop writing is when I see the diary in the hands of my kids if I forget to keep it in the cupboard. A lot of my articles on Associated Contents and mylot are almost like diary entries of the past and present.

I used to have a diary when I was in elementary. It was really nice to go back and read my silly entries back then. As time went on though I threw those pages away and sometimes I think that I shouldve kept them after all. Not for any particular reason but its kinda like writing a history or an autobiography and it would be nice to have a copy of things that would remind me of what happened on a certain day in my life. At first I tried to write everyday but there were the risk of a lot of people to have the opportunity to read thoughts that should be kept private so I only made it a point to write the most significant event of the day, even the dialogues that happened. If I still had them and read them right now, it would be like writing a very familiar book.^_^

Its good fun sometimes to look at the old diaries and read the past. Helps us relive those moments again. I wish sometimes I had written my diaries regularly. Not mylot has become a kind of a diary for me.

Yeah, it is that. I mean myLot being a diary, well I think its more like a journal since a diary is sort of just a recounting of events whereas journals also show and share what the writer thinks.

No. I dont keep a diary, but in many of my classes in school we would have to write journals about random things and I have kept a lot of those things. I also write short stories and poems and stuff and these also show how I have changed over the years. I used to keep a diary when I was real young, but my brother and other people always tried to read it, so I dont do that anymore.

Do you publish your short stories/poems anywhere or are they just for yourself to read? I have just recently started writing peoms and I think I will enjoy reading them again after some years. I have not kept any of my old diaries and very rarely enter anything in the diary. It is just updated regularly in the beginning of the year and after a couple of months everything is forgotton.

No,I never do.. Have always wanted to do that but have never been successful in that task. Every year I just write one page of the new diary and the rest pages will be blank throughout. It's been part of my new year resolution evey year, but have never achieved it. And ofcourse this year I have already added this to my new year resolutions list. Let's see if I can make it atleast this time. Cheers

Nope, I've tried twice before, but I find that I just get too lazy to fill it in every day... in the first few weeks I'm pumped and all into the writing, after that the gaps between entries just gets further and further, until not long after, I just stop altogether. I think it would be nice as something to look back on though, maybe I'll try again at the start of next year...

Looks like you are just like me. I too start a diary every year and then the diary ends up in the cupboard. I now sometimes write a poem or just a few lines which I then put in the discussions here.

I too feel that I should have maintained a diary where I could go back in time and see what I had done in the past. But every year I start a diary and after a couple of months just stop writing anything in it.

It is no use maintaining a diary if we are not able to write the truth. I start one every year but after a couple of months loose interest.

I do make notes and put my feelings down in my diary. But I don't really look back into my diary's some times in my life like everybodys theres been some bad times and I wouldn't like to bring back the bad memory's. I have read once or twice and I have realised that I changed a lot since then and yes my life then is completely different to the life im living now.

Welcome to mylot. I think all of us at some time are tempted to look back at our diaries and see the changes in us. I hope the changes in your life are for the better.

Dear mayka I do not keep diaries, I never had. Sometimes I used to keep notes on my cell phone. The old one but that's gone now and i hardly keep any note anymore. My life is but what you read here in mylot. Its essentially like a diary. Have a great day.

I think mylot and AC has become a kind of a diary for some of us. So the person who stole your cellphone has got to read something about you. Hope there is nothing that others are not supposed to read!

No, I am not maintaining a diary. Earlier I had the habit but after marriage and have kids then I dropped the habit due to lack of time. I think it must be interesting to read after a long period. What to do I will miss that enjoyment. I think you must have the same habit. If yes, please enjoy it.

I have not been too regular in maintaining my diary. For the first couple of months I write everyday. Then it becomes rare and then one day just stops. I think I end up doing this every year. But it is fun reading back what was written.

When I was a teenager I made lots of notes in a diary every day - but when I got older and got married, even though I still kept diaries (and still do), they are now only for appointments, reminders and other important dates. I no longer document everything I think, read and eat - far too busy for that! There is a whole shelf in my bookcase full of diaries for the past 30 years ... but there's nothing very interesting inside them. The one thing I used to do was make my Christmas gift lists in the back of the diaries - fortunately my kids never realised! I suppose it would be interesting to go back and see what they'd received those years.

I think most of us forget the diaries once we are married. Get too busy with our lives and secondly the tension of our spouses and kids reading them. It is interesting though to look back at what was written many years ago.

No, I don't make notes in diary any more as I don't have time for that activity. Earlier I was very fond of writing diary and since I did not want any one to read my diary I had devised a scripting language which only I could read.
