Know Thyself in the Eyes of Another

The most honest way to describe oneself is to heed the testimonies of their closest friends. What qualities are found in you through another person's eyes? What do they value in you most that gets them to spend their time to be with you? What draws them by your side time and time againn? Sure we can list plenty of our strengths and weaknesses, but sometimes or most times our ego sets in and we tend to lose sight of our true self condition. Our characters start to unfold and grow in our daily interactions with others. And the simple truth is we become what we behold, whom or what we value most in this life. Whom or to what we contribute the greater part of our time, energy, and resources toward, in things or people we hold dear? It is a nice gesture to share with a friend what you have learned about them, and why you appreciate their companionship. Coming to know oneself through the eyes of others gives a fuller picture of his or her traits, qualities, nature and personality. To begin to see ourselves as reflected in the hearts of our closest friends, we may come to realize by their thoughts on us hidden gifts or abilities we have not realized before or never knew we had. Go ahead, make a list of your qualities and personality traits you feel you have and then compare your own description with that of your loved ones. Ask them to write up a list about you while you do the same for them, and then compare. Where do you lack in your friends understanding? And in what area do you see the most agreement, and perhaps a greater potential for growth. You may be pleasently surprised at what you discobver about yourself in the eyes of another.
