With a heavily-populated country like ours, it is common to have namesakes (tokayo in Filipino). I find it amusing to find out that there are some people with the same name or nickname as I have. Back when I was studying, our teachers would address us by family names because there's more than one student with the same names.

Back in grade school and high school and college, I don't have a namesake because I have 2 names and my family name is the only one in the entire school except of course I have 3 brothers who are in same school hehehe...
My second name is very common but I don't use it even for a nickname. My first name is very common now too. Now I have 12 namesakes when I look it up in friendster. haven't tried searching though in the web.

Oh my... i remember those days when i would always have a classmate with the same name... good thing my surname was quite unique then... and i don't mind if my friends and teachers just call me by my surname... but now that i am married... my surname is very common... so my first name and last name are both very common... and i would sometimes meet a person with the exact first and last name as mine...
So to solve this... i always use my maiden name instead...

My first of my 3 first names is quite common. So people would call me by my family name just as to distinguish me from my namesakes.

I think I have a problem with my name. I actually don't like it. When I was in High School I used to have the same name with someone but in different class/level. It's okay because we don't get together a lot. In college, I don't remember having the same name with a classmate. But I still don't like it. It is so common and so short. Sometimes I'd rather be called by my family name. =)
