I have been to Istanbul and think it is one of the most interesting and scenic of all the cities in Europe. Most of all I liked seeing the view of the Blue Mosque at night. The atmosphere was friendly and busy. From there my friend and I took a train into the Asian part of Turkey and we had a lovely time. We explored some amazing white terraces and then swam in a thermal swimming pool. Wow! The water was delightfully warm but the outside air was cold. Then we got a bus to the coast seeing the almost empty coastal resorts. It was so cold and one evening we sat chatting to a kind Turkish family in front of a warm fire. Oh, the hospitality was great! We spend New Year's Eve at our hotel in town. We walked up the hills, looking at the views and then all the mosques sounded at once. Hearing that is something I will never forget. For our last couple of nights we checked into a luxury hotel in Istanbul. I am a budget traveler but my friend was a expensive traveler. I also went with him to the Seychelles and we spent loads of money. I no longer go traveling with him so don't suffer great expense but I have lovely memories.

hi there. I live in the capital city of Turkey, Ankara. But i have been to Istanbul many times. And as a person who traveled to many major cities in Europe i can tell you that Istanbul is one of the greatest cities in Europe. It has been the center of many cultures throughout the history. The aim to seize the city has caused too many struggles among the great civilizations of history.
Besides its history, Istanbul is a very dynamic and lusty city attracting millions of people from all around the world. You can have your coffee in a luxurious coffee at the bosphorus with an amazing view or you can have your lunch with a "simit" and tea on Besiktas pier and watch the ships crossing the sea all day.
There is too much to say about Istanbul. All I can say is you have to see it yourself. Only then you will understand what i mean.

Hi there! I haven't been there but my husband does, he go there for business couple of months ago. He found the City very historical and cosmopolitan, people are friendly the food is great. But the traffic is heavy and it was more expensive for some things that he thought it would be. I would love to come there also, maybe someday when I have the chance. Happy travels!
