I love how you can hear an old song on the radio and it's like you are instantly taken back to another time in your life..
A song they played at your prom.
Your wedding song...
A song that encouraged you during a low point in your life..
Sometimes they can make you feel sad as well..
A song that reminds you of someone you lost touch with or who has since passed away that you miss.
Music can be so intertwined with events, good and bad in our lives.
It reaches the deepest parts of our hearts at times..
When I was in the shower this morning I heard an old song come on the radio..
It was Johnny Cash "I was the line"
Instantly I was brought back to cottage my family spent our summers when I was a child.
I could see in my mind, my sisters and I, along with my cousins, sitting in a circle on the floor listening to our grandfather play the guitar and sing this song..
He would throw our each of our names into the song as he sang it and we just always loved that!
Are there special songs you have attached memories to?

that is so very true, it's amazing how much music has become a part of our lives, i don't think there is really anyone that does not have some type of music in their lives, and there are so many things music can do for you, and make you feel. i would have to say that my all time favorite song, and one that for some reason always makes me feel happy, and i just have to crank it and sing (lol and i have yet to find anyone who hears it not feel the same way) is "the next to be with you" Mr Bigg

To Be With You Lyrics
Hold on little girl
Show me what he's done to you
Stand up little girl
A broken heart can't be that bad
When it's through, it's through
Fate will twist the both of you
So come on baby come on over
Let me be the one to show you
I'm the one who wants to be with you
Deep inside I hope you feel it too
Waited on a line of greens and blues
Just to be the next to be with you
Build up your confidence
So you can be on top for once
wake up who cares about
Little boys that talk too much
I've seen it all go down
Your game of love was all rained out
So come on baby, come on over
Let me be the one to hold you
Chorus
Why be alone when we can be together baby
You can make my life worthwhile
And I can make you start to smile
When it's through, it's through
Fate will twist the both of you
So come on baby come on over
Let me be the one to show you

I love this song! I remember I was 13 when it came out, and the kid across the street used to sing it to me. LOL, he never sounded as good as Mr. Big, but it was sweet none the less. Good one!

I learned in high school how to play that song. It's one of my favorites. I can play the cello to it too. I had to learn by ear, because I can't read music, and then when I realized it was by GNR I really actuall liked it. Reminds me of those hair band days, with Warrant, Poison, Metallica. Miss those days!

Song is a magic thing, you can't see it,but it makes a view in your brain, sound is main part, this thing you don't grab can make you cry, laugh, attach your memories,so cool.I like classic songs, and most of them are old songs,i am 80s, but i like songs of 70s,some of young consider i am not modern,i don't care, these songs are really classic, lots of emotion in songs, they always shake you and touch your heartstring,'stairway to heaven','when the children cry'...those songs i love, they are always classic and live forever.

I love old songs. Songs that reminds me of my childhood, my friends and my loved ones. I have a collection of my favorite old songs which I compiled in my computer and I enjoy listening to them every night. Some of my favorites includes LOVE ALWAYS FINDS A WAY by Peabo Bryson, GO THE DISTANCE and CONSTANT CHANGE.

I like old songs especially those that i appreciated when i was young. Last night the TV played my favourites songs and i stayed up late to enjoy those beautiful rhythems and lyrics. Those songs reflected on my good memory of the old good days: my youthhood, my hometowan, my happy days at college!

Man do I have a long list of them!!! There seems to be a new song with a story cropping up all the time.
Right now Rascal Flatts is playing and reminding me of life in general, the curves in the road and the paths we choose.
i could go on and on, but there is not enough typing space and I am sure that your intentions did not include a novel for a response....lol

A few of my favorite songs to take me back is A candle in the wind by Elton John. One of my great grandmother's passed away when I was still young and I remember listening to the song when I was getting ready for school, and remembering her. I would cry every time I heard it or mostly every time I heard it. Then there's holes in the floor of heaven by Steve Warner that makes me cry every time I hear it. I associate it with all the people I know who have passed on. Another song that reminds me of sad times is one that I can't remember the name of, but it's a new song. The song really has nothing to do with the way I associate it but it came on a lot after my brother passed away.
A song that reminds me of happy times is "So Small" by Carrie Underwood. It's mine and my fiance's song and we love to dance to it. He proposed to me by that song, and I think it's really one that god picked out for us. If you haven't heard it I think you should give it a listen, it's really a song that makes you think.

Oh yes, there are many that take me back to my teenage days when I was hanging out with the friends, we would go to these places where we could dance. Good old fashion fun. And the guys were nice too they would come and ask us to dance. We didn't do these booty shaking dances. And slow dances I love that too. I call them oldies.

When I think of the past, the first song that cross my mind is Canzone Per Te - Roberto Carlos version.
I've sung it in a contest on 4th grade of elementary school. Italian is not my mother language and did it quite well for a 10 year-old kid... :)
