Nearly 20 years after the fall of Communism in Eastern Europe, the justice system is still being reformed. Creating a system from scratch that removes all communist influences from the justice system takes time. Getting people to trust the system takes even longer. I published an article on associated content regarding some of these efforts: http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1053339/mediation_as_part_of_rule_of_law_initiatives.html?cat=17 The paper mostly focuses on incuding mediation or arbriation in the new systems. It discusses the pluses and minuses of including mediation, as well as public reaction to the idea of settling disputes without a trial. Check it out and come back to discuss.
