hi all! i have a silly question, but i cannot find a difinitive yes or no answer anywhere on the net. i just bought a small "elephant ear" plant, and i am pretty sure the tag said that it was indoor/outdoor. i purchased it for indoor use, as i do not garden and such but it was such a cute little plant. i looked online for info on how to care for it and could really not find anything. anyone familiar with these types of plants? can i keep it indoors? if so, how much do i water it and such? thank you in advance! :)

My Mom raised these but she kept hers in the yard. A small one would make a good house plant but in good soil they can get pretty big pretty quick. In a big pot you could probably keep it in the house this winter if you have a place to set it where the sun can hit it. Next spring I would put it in the ground outside. I will tell you this but take my word for it and don't try it. I don't know if they are poison or not but if you put a piece of the leaf in your mouth and chew it you would swear you are chewing crushed glass. I heard that when I was a kid and of course I had to try it. Now do everyone run out and start grazing on your elephant ears.

thank you very much for the info! i also did read that they are poisonous to cats, although i am not sure about dogs. luckily it is small and my cats do not know it is there. :)

they thrive in night temps of 55-60 and 80 or better in the day, they like full sun rather than shade but they can take SOME shade... be careful about that, and in full sun they love lots of water, but be careful not to water them too much or they will mold and rot... looking online with exact questions will help, i looked up how often elephant ears water...and got a good article, so exact questions might help :P good luck :D

I don't know alot about these but I do love them and if they can be grown indoors I may look at getting some. ~~IN SEARCH OF PEACE WITHIN~~ **AGAINST THE STORMS, I WILL STAND STRONG**
