How are people ranked in each catagory, and who is ranking them. Is it just the number of posts that a person has in the catagory or is it what is said in each of the posts.

It's a stupid little thing that, like the stupid little star, stirs ill wiil, discontent and grade school menality popularity contests. the big threat here, beside's "I'm reporting you for abuse", is the threat of a negative rating on a response, resulting in the reduction of the number in the star and the color of it. OOOOH........so scary!
Don't pay much attention to this stuff, speak your mind, be respectfull and factual and you will do just fine,

I agree about the stars, and + and -
But wondering about the pale grey print beside a poster's name that says "ranked 71 out of 4678 in Politics", there is one by everyone's name connected with the interest they are in at the time. And it seems to not be connected to the stars and plus/minus. I've seen people's stars go up and down with no real effect on this ranking statement.

Each interest you has chose and participate in the members that you contribute to their discussions will select the minus or plus button beside your name. This will either increase or decrease your ranking. It is also the same whenever you choose to write a discussion.
