I would like to know what a virtual assistant is and what they do. It sounds interesting.

Hi Trich, please refer to my previous message. Yes, it is very interesting. In my opinion this has become the new trend now in our country after the 'call center madness'. I looked at your profile and I see your from Georgia, I had worked with some VAs too from US, she is in NY though. This profession is really great for moms who want to stay at home and earn money.

We actually use VOIP, and the company has provided it. We use the company's phone number and whenever we make phone calls the number that will show up in the caller id of our clients is our US phone number (since we are also registered in US).

Do you use your own phone number for calls or do you have a separate number for people calling you?

I'm a call center agent too...I've only seen two companies that has a virtual assistant, well, here in Cebu that is. And that's Support Save and Oh God I forgot the other one. hehe...
So is it hard like being a virtual assistant?

Hi I've been a virtual assistant since 2003 and have never been happier. I work around my children and still earn money and use my skills. I do secretarial work and transcription work myself for a heap of clients. The Ups great work and you don't even have to leave home, I work weird hours when kids are sleeping. The Downs, gone are the city lunches and social life, but those days are over, I'm here with my beautiful children and they're not in childcare. Downs also I keep working too much because my work is in the next room. I'm a workaholic, I love it when my clients pay me and the more I work the more I earn. Check out http://www.virtual-assistant-advice.com. for all those people that answered you and didn't know what a VA was.

hi, as a virtual assistant - well as the name 'virtual' applies, it means doing administrative work remotely for our clients. Any administrative tasks you can think of, doing research online, inbound and outbound calls, appointment setting, accounting, etc. as long as it does not entail physical activities (face to face meet ups). Most of my clients are from US and there are some from UK too. And they are aware that we are from Manila. They do find us good in speaking and writing the English language.
Oh and I do work in the comfort of my own home but graveyard shift (Philippines time). Somehow it is like working in a call center too, but at least the tasks vary not just phone calls.

I am looking for legitimate work I can do from home. How or where do you get VA jobs without paying any money upfront?
