I put myself in other peoples shoes before I act on things

I am always thinking about the way people treat each other in society now a days and maybe I sound dull but alot of people feel that common curteousy is not needed anymore, How often do you see someone standd back and allow a older member of the public get on the bus/train first let alone offer the elderly a seat???? why are these simple principles followed whilst growing up anymore I am 31 and I was aways taught to respect my elders and yet this appears to be a rare thing now, I am not saying I am perfect and never done wrong but I have seen people walk past people who have fallen or need help and it amases me do these people not have a conscience at all do they feel bad about it later?????? Is it not normal to have good moral fibre and a caring nature anymore Or is it a waste of time to live treating others how you would like to be treated as noone really bothers and you would be walked past if you fall or left standing on a bus wondering if someone will offer you a seat like you did many times ?????

I think these are personal traits that are instilled by one's parents, families, teachers and other influence groups aound you. I have been fortunate during my childhood to have had a great family that tought me these things. It gives me immense pleasure to help anyone and boosts my morale when I am complimented for it. Recently, I held the door of a pharmacy open for an old lady who was quite far behind me and waited for he to go in first - and she patted my back and commented "you must make your mum proud to have raised a son like you"! This remark made my day! Often I have stopped on the roadside to help people change tires - and on one occasion some time ago, I was late for work - but my boss excused me when I told him why - since he also saw my hands greasy. In the past, when I used to travel by bus, I was often a standing passenger even though I got a seat at first but surrenderd it to someone deserving it more. For me, doing a good deed "makes my day" and keeps me loving and living this life in joy!

i would love to say i do the same, as I do try to, but it rarely happens. Most times i react and then after I think to myself...you know, others have it worse, or this situation could ahve been so different...definitely need to work on how i do things.
