Have you heard of the famous Chinese proverb story of "waiting for rabbits by a stree"?
One day, a farmer was plowing his field when he saw a rabbit accidentally run headfirst into a tree and die instantly. The farmer was very pleased and cooked the rabbit for his family. He then decided that rabbits must be running towards this tree and dying all the time. Meanwhile he wrongly concluded he could safely stop working the farm and just wait for rabbits.
This story is used to describe peopli who set too much store in the power of luck. These people do not understand that they still have to work hard to profit and that it is not sufficient to rely on luck alone. We must keep in mind the old saying--No pains, no gains.
