hey guys, please clear my doubt. i don't see much difference between wordpad and notepad. both of them are almost the same. both of them have almost the same characteristics. then why is that the names are different. microsoft should have named the wordpad as the advanced notepad. why didn't they do so? there must be some reason to it.can anybody clear my doubt?
happy mylotting.

I'm sure wordpad has more formatting, the basic type - italics, bold and stuff.
Its level is way lower than MS word though.
It also has grids like ms word, so that you can scale. It allows you to use different fonts and change its sizes, colour, and alignment. Its a basic ms word.
notepad has hardly anything - thats what makes it the best for jotting things down.
Happy mylotting.

It's the features that is different from each.
Wordpad clearly has a lot more features than the notepad. This includes:
a. Font
The font of the notepad will always be the same, while the wordpad has a lot more fonts you can use.
b. Format
You can justify or center the Wordpad but you can't do that with the notepad.
c. Spacing
There's automatic spacing for Wordpad where notepad has none.
d. Word Wrap
This is a feature the notepad had while the Wordpad doesn't.
And a lot more.
So the tip would be, if you're just in it to copy paste, better use the notepad. It's fast, sleek and basic. But if you want a lot more features or would like to print it (if ever you're unfortunate enough to have Microsoft office) then the Wordpad would be better than the notepad.
