I see that people have all these crazy ways of making money online doing different kinds of things. I've tried some, and some to me are just waaaaay toooo annoying like the ptc sites. gosh way too little money to have to click on something 5 million times. bluh. Anyways I love writing poetry! I've written since i was 9 years old, and I'm 20 now. I have hundreds and hundreds of poems/lyrics and would like to make some money! Even if it's just a site where people can donate if they choose to or whatever. I just haven't found anything where I can make any money from them and I've worked so hard on every single poem i've written! Anyone know of any ways I could get some extra cash for my poems/lyrics? I really need some help, so if you know of anything please let me know! I would love you FOREVER! :) haha

Hello, sheen!
I know of two writing sites...I'll try to explain them:
The first is an online writing community: http://www.onestopwriteshop.com
Although you don't get paid for each poem you share on the site, you occasionally do get to join contests (some have cash prizes), or free classes. Of course there are forums you can join too. You can also become a spotlight writer if someone votes for you. Check out the site to see what it has to offer you. There is a free membership, but you can also avail of paid memberships which has more perks of course. You can also submit other genre such as short stories.
The second site, if it's ok, please give me your email address so I can refer you to it. Aside from poetry, you can write about pretty much anything since they have a wide range of topics to choose from. I must mention though that you can't delete what you've posted there already, but you are free to post what you have in other sites.
I hope to hear back from you. See you! :)

If you have the knack for it, Blue Mountain Arts pays fairly well for poetry. Unless you have an endless fountain of material, you won't get rich but you may be able to use it to fund a caffeine addiction or shoe addiction....whatever you might have.
Here are their guides and pay scale:

I must say that making money from your poetry isn't going to be easy to do. I don't recommend putting them on any revenue sharing sites or such because you are loosing part of your copyright. You can set up your own website and see if you can get donations, which you might, but it will be a lot of work and you won't make a lot. Another option is to get next years copy of The Writer's Market and start working on trying to get some poetry anthologies published. It is a hard market to get into, but if you do make it you can make it big. Group your poems by subjects, follow The Writer's Market directions on how to send the poems, ideas, and or samples to the different publishers.
I once saw a show on interesting businesses that people have. There was this guy (I think he worked somewhere in Washington) who would go to the local park with his manual typewriter. He would then write poetry on the spot with suggestions from people. They would then donate to him according to how much they like the poem. He worked four days a week and made over $70,000 a year. Most of us aren't that type of poet, but it might be worth it if we were!
