I have my first acupuncture appointment tomarrow. I was in a bad auto injury last year, and my neck has never fully recovered. Here lately, it's been hurting again. Since I've pretty much exhausted my options with western medicine, I decided to give acupunture a try. I found a guy who does acupuncture along with chiropractics and massage. He's liscensed in all these as well as other Chinese medicine like herbs, so I hope he's good.
Has anyone had success in pain relief using acupuncture? How many sessions did you have to have done? Was it uncomfortable?

I have often cringed when people have talked about acupuncture just the thought of it makes me screamish especially with the use of needles but they are only fine.
A colleague I work with often goes to have acupuncture to treat his synasis' and problems with his knee and back. He always speaks very highly of the treatment and couldn't recommend it enough to me if I ever had a problem. I told me how they insert the needles and gently twist them which in turn helps the muscle relax or trigger some way of helping you get better. He often has the needles inserted in his ankles, shins, wrists and arms. I know he recommends it but don't think i'm brave enough to have it done what with my fear of needles. My colleague swears this is the only thing that can correct his illnesses so you should see some results I would have thought.

I'm also *really* scared of needles, but my husband swears I won't feel these because they're so tiny. I REALLY hope he's right!

I had acupuncture on my tennis elbow. I had about 3 sessions but it didn't appear to do any good. I have had tennis elbow twice and I used up my insurance on treatments of various types and had to quit. Eventually the tennis elbow healed on its own. The acupuncture itself is totally painless and it certainly isn't uncomfortable. Good luck!
