When I was a kid, I could here people saying that one should take engineering courses so that he can be rich. Or take law so that you can have power or nursing so that you can send money to your family from abroad.
Thus, now I am taking the Nursing review so that I can go abroad.
How about you, what was the pretty popular course when you were young? What did you want you to be? A lawyer? Engineer? Manager? nurse? doctor? seaman? police?

Today Nursing is the most popular course here in the Philippines. But when I was still a kid my tells me that it's nice to be a doctor. Also my aunties I should take up the course medicine or nursing. But its purpose is not for me to go abroad. But if someone got sick there would be a doctor in our family who will take care and cure, and that is me. They also told me that if not medicine, I should take law, so there would be a defender in our family. But now I am taking up Engineering.

You're taking engineering in Mapua. It still is Mapua right? Good for you, when are you graduating?

You will graduate! I believe a lot of teachers are needed locally but also pre-school teachers are in demand abroad.

actually, it changes through time. when i was still young, people say that engineering courses are good since there are alot of opportunities waiting. but when i was in high school, the computer course were more popular. it changed probably because of the technological developments that were made. well, the nursing course was long popular already because of the jobs abroad available. but i think alot of students are already taking up such course and we now have a lot of unemployed nursing graduates. well, i think people especially the young ones who are yet to choose their courses should pay more attention to their strengths and skills rather than the popularity of the course or the job opportunities it has.

I have to agree that it's a sad fact that a number of nursing graduates are employed. I wish, things will change next year.

I noticed that nowadays, Nursing is really the course that most people take during college. Anywhere you go, the nursing students are everywhere especially in the Philippines. Maybe, like what you said, it is easier to go abroad if you are a registered nurse. My two elder sisters are also nurses and they are abroad. During my time, when I was on my way to college, the popular course to take was Physical Therapy and Engineering, which most of my classmates took then. Most of them are also abroad now. If I had the choice, I think I will pursue the Arts. I have been drawing and sketching since I was a kid and my family thought I was good at it. But I took a different one. I sometimes feel like I should have taken what I wanted because it makes me sad sometimes. Aside from Arts, I used to imagine myself as a Doctor since both my older sisters are nurses, there should be a doctor in the family. Good luck on your board exam Karamellized! God bless. =)

I'm taking up engineering! Mechanical Engineering to be specific.
I don't think about getting rich someday. Being an engineer does not mean being rich someday. It is more like a passion for me. I don't think about engineering as work but I want it to be my life. I'm studying engineering because I strongly believe that the Philippines badly needs technical people. Harnessing the power of science and technology will bring great power and economic stability in our country. However, as of today, all our great engineers are either abroad or locked up in their work shops for lack of support from the government.

I have to say that most great engineers we have work in the middle east or in some multi-national companies.
