Over the counter cough syrup

I took my 80 year old mother to the local pharmacy and she bought a bottle of over counter cough syrup for her brother in law. When we got to the check out the lady laughed and said sorry maam but I need to see your idea to make sure you are old enough. I snickered and my mom laughed and said I have never been carded before not even for alcohol, but I can say I have been carded now for cough syrup. How funny. Anyone else been carded for cough syrup with the new laws.
