It's funny because I live in the country and I seldom live where there is pizza delivery. When I live somewhere that I can have it delivered, I forget until I'm about ready to move. Now-a-days, if you want to keep the delivery guy from quitting, with the price of gas, I guess it would need to be a substantial tip. Thanks and take care.

Hello, here in my country, tip is like a taboo. Not all people can afford to tip and when it comes to delivery, we usually are not used to giving tips not unless we dine in a restaurant. Sometimes, we would take a look if there's already a service fee included in the receipt and if there's none we usually give 0.5$. Four dollars here is such a big tip.

Well, I guess it depends on what I order. We have 6 people in my home so we tend to order more. A tip is typically calculated by adding 15-20% to the total bill before tax. So, the tip would depend on the total charge for me. Although, if I am getting something that is harder to deliver like say a huge sheet pizza for a party or multiple different items, I'll tip more. I try to remember that a usual pizza delivery person isn't making much per hour and they have to pay for the fuel in their vehicle most of the time so that must be factored in as well. I'd say a good tip for a pizza delivery guy would be approximately 25% of your pre-tax total.

We usually tip about $2-$3 unless the pizza place already charges a delivery charge and then it may be only an extra dollar. I think that $4 is pretty generous and I guess it depends on how much food you are ordering too.
