Hey mylot! Thanks for the earnings and post count reductions.....

I know that sometimes our post count and earnings amount will fluctuate every now and then but this morning I woke up to a ten cent and five post count reduction! I am not sure exactly why because I am pretty sure I didn't respond to any discussions that were against the guidelines?? Normally I couldn't care less as it is sometimes only a cent or a post count point here and there but this time it is quite significant compared to normal.
I know we have to take the good with the bad in this regard and to be honest, at least from the earnings side I generally have my amount increase by a few cents outside of standard payout times; but this time it has annoyed me because I have no idea why it was such a decent hit this time around! Do you often have the same happen to you? Do you think it would be nice to know WHY this has happened and where we went wrong so we can avoid this in the future?

Hi taripres. Please don't think that it is all doom and gloom to come because it's not! I have been here for over two years and am just venting because I had a decrease yesterday that I have never experienced before. This is NOT a common occurence and I am just frustrated because I have no idea why it was these numbers. Thanks for responding and keep mylotting because there are hundreds of positives to offset this one rant I have been having!

Great attitude taripres! At the time I posted this discussion I was pretty frustrated with the whole thing, but I too have moved on quickly and am not concerned so much about it at all now. I made it all back very fast and will just notch this one up to being a bad day!

Oh no, I'm sure there are downfalls, that's with anything! I've actually noticed quite a few recently! Notice I'm at 528, just about a week ago I was at 556, so I know it's happening now! But, I also make something everyday, so it's cool!

Sorry to hear about that. I have noticed that my earnings this month seem to be really slow and that I don't seem to have a constant amount either for the same number of posts. Days that I think that I should make a lot of money,I barely make any and then days that I don't work as hard, I seem to make more. I am not sure if there is a problem with their site now or what but I hope it straightens out soon.

Normally I couldn't care less about something like this carolscash because I do understand it can go either way, it's just a considerably larger number from both a post count AND earnings perspective this time around! I don't try to predict or monitor my earnings too much really but this is quite an unusual situation and I have never seen something like this personally in the two and a half years I have been here. Oh well. It is what it is I guess and I just wanted to rant a little is all. Thanks for the response.

I gave up trying to predict what I would earn a LONG time ago. lol. After all this time on here I kind of have a rough idea what to expect each day based on my activity, but it is still all so unpredictable really. I am not here for the money anyway but every now and then things occur that I don't understand, hence the discussion topic!

James, get some good referrals who post daily, and you will earn a lot more than what you gain through daily posting. Its always better to earn that way rather than typing everything. Anyhow this is not a primary incoeme, just some bonus for the extra time that we have, so no complaints.

Good advice jayarajgr, but for the record I have never been here for the earnings! If I was then I was then I would have quit a long time ago..... This rant is more to do with being concerned that reductions occur yet I have no idea why, more than anything else. 10 cents is neither here nor there and will be replaced easily. The issue is not knowing where I may have made mistakes. If it has happened to me then it is happening to others. If none of us know WHY it is happening then we can't fix our behaviours moving forward. Thanks for the response.

I only normally lose a cent at a time, and perhaps a couple of posts, but like you although I have come to expect it, it would be nice if we could have a reason to go along with it, then we would have a least an idea to the Whys and Where fores.

A couple of cents or a couple of posts is nether here nor there jason and I too have experienced the same from timt to time. This was an instance where the numbers were significantly more than that this time around so I of course am wishing I knew why! I can fix things for the future if I know. Thanks for the response.

This always seems to happen around this time of the month, some months at this time I can lose up to 60 posts or more from my count and I have not got a clue why. It is very annoying and often puts me off doing anything on here, no doubt I will lose some more this month too!

Wow gemini! If I had of lost 60 like you have before I am not sure how I would react. My reduction was 5 only and I am annoyed already! It would definitely be of benefit to know why because it is very frustrating seeing decreases and then being in the dark about it. Thanks for responding and I hope this month you see nothing similar to the example you gave.

Mine ususally increases by a few cents here and there as well cream97 so I realize that it is somewhat bad of me to suddenly have an issue with it going the other way for once! But the issue I have is the numbers because I can't work out where I went wrong? Having a few cents or one or two posts go up or down either way is of no concern but this is a decent number this time around. It would just be nice to be informed once in a while where the breaches were made so we can make sure these things do not become a common occurence in the future. I could contact mylot I guess but I doubt I would get an answer on it. Thanks for the response.

I can understand why they go up and down outside of standard payment times because they are probably updating algorithms or something; but it was just a bit of a puzzle for me to see such a downward shift this time around. It will be interesting to see what happens when the actual payment kicks in for today.

Of course..... The financial crisis. How could I have been so ignorant! I missed seeing the forest for the trees so I appreciate you setting me straight Sandhya. And what do you mean you never check on your earnings? Have you not bought a new car or something with it yet?? Thanks for the response.

Hi James
This has happened to me many times and also the increase bit. Like just now I noticed my earnings rising to 4 cents. It goes down on many occasions. And also the number of posts. But 5 posts down, is a big one James. They say the ups and downs are due to house cleaning here but i feel the system could have been more transparent. There are certain queries I would want to know from admin:
1. Don't you think the earning system should be more transparent?
An alert in mailbox would be fine, I guess. For it's not possible to keep tab on the earning thing regularly.
2. Don’t you think that we should be warned before the ban?
For many times we do not even know what wrong we did? So warning could be a nice tinkle over our violation. I think mylot is a highly regarded social networking forum and it could afford to implement this for the betterment of its promotion.
3. Don’t you think that mylot should have a more effective system of judging a user’s reputation?
I mean, while any user has the right to report another user but this could well be personal. Do the moderators look into it effectively or just ban the user on basis of reporting, which in some cases could be subjective?
I know I digressed but I thought its a good platform to express myself. Hope you didn't mind.

Got it James!
I would like to tell you another thing:
I have found many discussions violating myLot rules but still active full fledged. I think deleting discussions depends on the basis of reporting alone. I guess, Mylot doesn't monitor individual user.

I agree with you on that last point mimpi. It would be next to impossible to monitor all things all the time so for sure a lot of it is based on user reporting. I have seen many discussions that are totally in breach yet months later they are still there! Yet ones that don't look like they are in violation at all suddenly disappear.

Yes it did seem like a big decrease compared to other times and this is why I wished to post a topic in regards to it. As for your numbered points, mylot are very protective of their earning algorithm formulas and I respect that they wish to be this way. I am not overly concerned on HOW they work out my earnings but I do get a little concerned when they take a nosedive and I have no idea why! I agree that we should at least be informed of any wrongdoing rather than just have to sit there and wonder. For blatant abuse of the mylot rules I agree that a ban should be effected without warning but for simple oversights it would be nice to know once in a while what the offence was!
In regards to the user reputation system, I guess it is easy for me to be nonchalant about it all with a higher rating but as long as they are monitoring abuse of this aspect as well I see no issue with how things stand. For example, if their systems pick up an individual or group of individuals going from one particular user's discussion to another and rating them negatively then they should not acknowledge these ratings at all. Thanks for the detailed response mimpi and I don;t mind at all! Let it all out!

This is the first time it has happened with me. I noticed 3 cents reduced from my earnings and I can understand why it might have happened. I had a post which displayed a my referral link and that is the reason why they removed that post. It was a stupid thing on my part and I was expecting it. This mistake is my first and I hope should be the last one.
But you are right.Members should be made aware of the mistakes they might have committed unconsciously so that it could be avoided in future.

At least you can relate your own circumstances to a tangible reason! My issue is that I have no idea what I participated in that was in violation. It certainly wasn't one of my own discussions as they are all still there. The only way to learn a lesson is to understand what the parameters are and when we lose counts like this woithout understanding why then how can we possibly move to rectify things? It's done now and I of course have made the losses back. This is the first time I have seen this on my account and hopefully the last so I may as well leave it at that. Thanks for the response Daffodil.

Thanks for your comments and I am happy to see you having such a positive attitude about it all!

james you just don't know how badly i was hit today. although i am not following exactly how many posts i already have yesterday but what i could remember clearly is i suppose to reach just 0.60 cents in order to reach minimum payout for this month. when i woke up and log-in it was a huge 0.23cents that was chipped off in my earnings. it is the biggest one since i became active here, i don't really mind at all for a few cents but 0.23 is huge enough that i assume it took so many post to earn that amount. well, that's how discrete the system here, so let them fine tune it.

Wow. This is certainly no small amount sirrob and I am sorry to hear it. It's really frustrating to see things like this when we have no idea why. I don't mind for a few cents here and there either but this is significant. Thanks for responding and I hope you can reverse this setback and reach your minimum payout as planned. I am sure you will!

I had some weird stuff going on with the earnings portion, last week. I haven't had any problems with post count though. I was quite annoyed with it, only because I had done a lot of posting, taken a lot of time to do so, and the earnings were just weird, compared to what they had been. It doesn't usually bother me, I just thought it was strange.
And, it would be nice if they let you know SOMETHING, when things like that happen.

You have echoed my sentiments exactly Bo. It's not a case of getting all panicky about a few cents but more of a case of wishing that it had of been relayed to us why this has happened. We can't ensure that we don't repeat the same thing if we don't know what it was that we did incorrectly! Maybe it was all that talk about Texas? Thanks for the response.

Hiya Munchkin! So it was you that took some of my earnings then?? It's not so much frustration because of the earnings going down by so much; it's more of a case of wishing to understand why! I will make up the amount lost no issues and the money on here is really of no consequence overall to be honest. AS I have already stated, I just wish that mylot could provide an explanation once in a while. Thanks for the response.

well, it is really buffling to have those kinds of reductions. i think it is okay for you to inquire mylot regarding your account. i am sure they have a good explanation for the circumstance. anyway, i remember from one of the discussions that some topics are deleted due to a violation of any of its respondent. so maybe the time you posted your response to a discussion, you find no violation but those that responded after you could have made a mistake. well, it is really not your fault but you still have the right to know. so feel free to inquire.

I understand that some topics will be deleted due to violations and after time you do start to realize which ines have a chance of having this happen so you avoid them. This is what I do generally myself which is why it was such a suprise to see such a reduction overall. I was just keen to see if I am an isolated case or not and will probably notch this one up to being an anomayl rather than seek an explanation from mylot. I doubt I would get one anyway! Thanks for responding maroseqf.

Hopefully it was a few cents only maroseqf and not 10 or more like mine! This does happen from time to time when I guess systems are being updated but I was just surprised at the size of my decrease more than anything else. Sometimes you will see you earnings adjust upwards too so don't be too concerned about these smaller fluctuations.

james around this time on mylot the admins do delete some old discussions and then add cents here and take cents from there, and I have no idea why but its said they delete discussions that are really old or have broke mylot rules. I have had my points go up and down like a yo-yo.Lastnight I would have a certain number of points and think will this next one will put me up by ten points only to see that my point count stayed the same through two responses,so I assumed two of the discussions I had posted responses to had been deleted. I thought i Had been very careful to post only to discussions that had not broken any rules.but I did post to a couple where they had actually put in the user name of one of our mylot members, and thats a no no!

I appreciate that they will delete discussions that violate the rules Hatley and I too avoid these ones if it is clear that this is what the case is. I hope old discussions aren't being deleted though! If I responded way back when then it was still an effort on my part so I certainly would not expect to be docked anything if it was decided to "clear house" a little! It does seem though that the memebers with a higher post count can experience higher fluctuations too which I guess is all relative. It would still be nice to know the reasons once in a while though. Thanks for responding.

Well I don't know how to explain it to you either. You're the only person who knows what you posted the previous day. But could it be a small error on their part? Maybe your earnings and posts will adjust again tomorrow to reflect your true number of posts? Or maybe hey gave you too much credit a few days ago? I really can't believe that mylot would be unfair so this is the only explanation I can think of right now...

This is the thing mimico. Yes I DO know what I respond to and I DO make every effort to steer clear of discussions that look as if they may be testing the boundaries of the rules here. I am not suggesting that mylot are being unfair at all; I just wish that I was able to know what the reasoning is behind such reductions. If it was a mistake on my part then inform me so I can rectify my behaviours moving forward! I don't think it's unreasonable to want to know. Thanks for the response.

Hi successlog. I generally ignore it too and can appreciate that there will be minor fluctuations up and down from time to time. But when the downward movement is larger than usual I can't help but wonder what the situation is? This is the first time I have had this many points come off my post count so it was very surprising. Same thing happened to me the other day 3 topics deleted no email telling me why and when I contacted them about it they said "Well maybe you didn't follow guidelines and they were deleted". Well unless they have some hidden fine print they were within the guidelines and so we are just left to wonder why because I am informed they are "Too busy to email us when and why our discussions were deleted"
For sure it would be nice I think it is bad business to not give at least that much courtesy. The guidelines in some areas are vague and left to interpretation so I don't think we should be left to figure it out it needs to be spelled out in detail if they do not intend to notify us of why they are deleting our discussions.

I too have seen many a discussion disappear that looked to me like they were defiitely within the guidelines, so it would definitely be of benefit ot receive a more detailed explanation. Many of us may be repeating the same behaviours that we think are fine but actually are not. How can we rectify things like this without knowing? The devil is certainly in the details it seems!
