I just bought a new laptop and i would like to know the proper way of using it so that it could last longer. I have friends whose laptop only lasted for 8 months. The laptop i bought is quite pricey so i want to at least get what my money was worth. Thanks for your help.

I am not sure what kind of care you are talking about, but most laptops turn to last for fewer months simply because most people carry them wherever they go, to show their friends and use them in some public places, there is one thing any computer hates and that is getting dust. believe it or not dust ca damage your computer so easily, those little dust paticle getting to your computer via the keyboard can cause a major damage or even render your pc unusable

hi! i have an acer laptop which is already 3 years old and still in good condition.. although the battery life has dramatically reduced to a mere 1 hour use..
one good way to take care of your laptop is to avoid dropping it, and care when traveling- always use a padded bag.. also try to maintain the battery by draining it at least once a month.. this is because batteries are electrons and it has to move, by draining it once in a while it can achieve this..
also maintain your hard drive by periodically defragmenting it at least once a week.. and try verifying the disks for physical errors... to avoid overheating always make sre that the vent holes are not blocked when you use it, especially at bed when the pillows can easily cover the vent areas...

hi, ewan_ko.
take care also not to put anything heavy on top of it when the lid is closed.
also, this is obvious but i'll say it anyway, don't ever ever drop it. even when inside the laptop bag. ever.
