Leonardo Di Caprio To Be The Next James Bond

What is your immediate reaction? With the new Bond film, and forgive me but as I am a James Bond fanatic but the title of the new film is a bit stupid and a bit of a mouthful? Mind you I can't stand Daniel Craig either! So I thought Leonardo Di Caprio would make an excellent 007 what do you reckon? He's far more handsome than Daniel Craig, more of an action hero, more of a James Bond, more of a ladies man and certainly more popular than the current 007? So would you be more inclined to watch the James Bond film if Leonardo Di Caprio was James Bond instead of the awful Daniel Craig? I certainly would! Hopefully when they are looking for the next Bond, Leo will be in the wanted list to play the favourite spy The Name's Di Caprio, Leonardo Di Caprio, Licence To Thrill!

HEY HEY! I really thought that it would be Leonardo di Caprio. I mean, I would love to watch him take the said role. Also, Daniel Craig is ok, the difference is that he is not as popular as the other Bond Guys.

If only! Daniel Craig as 007 has ruined Bond for me, so I hope Craig decides to quit after this film!

Wow, I hadn't heard that. I was wondering about the title of the new one, though. I'm thinking it's a completely new Bond movie? I'm not that familiar with all of the old ones, so I don't really know for sure. I didn't see the one with Daniel Craig, so I can't really comment on him. I think DiCaprio could make a good Bond, but I worry about the English accent. I hope he doesn't botch it.

He could easily pull it off, look at the roles he's taken on in the past, he is a very versatile actor, especially in Who's Eating Gilbert Grape. I reckon he could put on a wonderful English accent but hey I am probably biased here!

Versatile, yes. Still not sure about the accent, though. Have you ever seen The Man in the Iron Mask? He was supposed to do a French accent, but failed miserably. The movie was still great, but the English accent in James Bond is a bit more essential to the character. Whoever heard of an American James Bond?

I actually think that Daniel Craig is a very good James Bond wolfie! Mybe even one of the best yet! Brosnan was too stereotypical and pretty much more of the same yet Craig has added a whole new darkness and emptiness to the character that we have not witnessed before. I think DiCaprio is certainly an accomplished actor but it is hard for me to picture him as a Bond.Maybe in another 10 years or so when he has aged a little more and added some further distinction to his look but not now. Just my two cents!

Your two cents are always valued James72. What did you think of Timothy Dalton as Bond? It was a shame he only did two because he was a renegade Bond and wouldn't follow the rules like his predecessors. I love Living Daylights probably one of my all time favourite Bond films because it is so action packed and some great acting not just by Bond, take the evil henchman Necros, he was brilliant, he could actually be mistaken for Bond himself! Sorry to digress but I will never get used to Craig as Bond and sadly I won't be rushing out to see the new Bond film whereas before I'd be first in the queue!

Hmmm. I've yet to catch the Craig Bond. Your comment re his new, "darker" side explains why some want DiCaprio in the role. You see, Bond (as played in all the previous films, at least--haven't read the BOOKS), was made to appeal to adolescent boys. The character was DELIBERATELY left shallow, a sort of template over which young boys could play out their dreams, so the character _couldn't_ go dark & deep. That wouldn't allow them to identify with him! The sleek adult Connery made him appeal to girls, & some women, however. I'm one of them, I readily admit. Now that I'm mature, however, I believe I might ENJOY a darker Bond. Still, Craig just never LOOKED Bondish to me, though he DOES (unlike Leo) look OLD enough, experienced aplenty, to be a Bond.... I think some women are enamored of DiCaprio's cuddly good looks (okay, _I_ don't consider him a _great_ actor); I hear (not ALL, but) many of them here touting looks, & not ACTING (I DO understand that; I have my own list of lookers I'll watch in anything.../o). Thus I believe they're attracted to the SURFACE, & not the possibility of a real, gritty character, such as the Bond you've described. Many people just want escapism, & having an actor color that fantasy darker won't appeal to them. Funny how it was just the opposite with the BATMAN character.... Maggiepie

Hi ya woldie34 I can's say that Daniel Craig is awful as James Bond because I have not seen any of his movies that he has been in not even non-James Bond films! I think you are right though, I do think that Leonardo Di Caprio would make a good James Bond I think it is a role he could sink his teeth into but he's American do you think that would go down with the traditionalists?

That's a valid point my friend, I guess I am biased and wouldn't care if he came from the Moon or Outer Mongolia but I can see that my fellow Brits could be up in arms about it.

According to Flemming Bond was a British Secret Agent but then who to say that DiCaprio can't put on an accent? Everyone seems to have accepted that Bond is now blonde.

Hmmm now I do not know about him as Bond. I like Daniel Craig and his rough around the edges look. (Of course I am a sucker for a bad boy!) I do not see Leonardo with his boyish looks as being a good actor for the role. I have always seen Bond as the bad boy that cleans up well kinda guy. Leonardo just looks like a baby face that is always clean. No one will ever surpass Sean Connery!

Sean Connery I have to agree is a great actor and is certainly a popular choice, certainly in this discussion he is more mentioned than any other Bond. Maybe in ten years or so Leonardo could surpass with the masculinity. Trouble is with Craig he has put me off Bond totally, normally I'd be first in the queue to see the new Bond film with Craig in the saddle I have just lost total interest, I hope like Dalton he only does two films and bows out!

I really can't imagine Leonardo Di Caprio as James Bond, i really can't. i think his face might be too soft for the role. we need a bond who looks more rugged but handsome at the same time and i really think Daniel Craig did a good job. i love his acting and his accent. the fact that he's British makes him hotter. haha. nice to have a British Bond. But if Leo Di Caprio were to be chosen for the next film i would still watch it. his acting is not bad at all and he has a sort of charm. hopefully that would make up for his not quite suitable James Bond image.

I like Leo.He is awesome in blood diamond. He is getting improved in all the spheres. But still I think he has that young and romantic image that won't do that much of a justice to a James Bond who is supposed to be more rugged and mature.

Give him ten years? Then he'd be perfect and I can easily see him putting on the English accent too, he's played some great roles, Titanic and The Beach but in both films he was indeed incredibly boyish.

Has anyone looke at DiCaprio recently? He totally didn't have the young, romantic, boy look in Blood Diamond. He's going to be 35 this November. How old does he have to be?

Some looks stick to you to your last.We have seen very mature looking kids and boyish grandpas. But in Hollywood anything is possible with the gadgets and and expertise they have.Well if Leo can make a great 007 we all welcome it.

Daniel Craig has boring model like expression on his face. Bond supposed to be charming and smiling. Daniel Craig was not good as James Bond. The best Bond was Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan. Leonardo can be much better than Daniel.

Roger Moore for me was the best because the films that he starred in with the exception of Living Daylights I have watched more than the rest. The Spy Who Loved Me, Moonraker, Octopussy and A View To A Kill are my favourite Bond films out of them all and they've all been played by Roger Moore!

I hope that Di Caprio acting would be great and he acts upon his expectations. Di Caprio's baby face makes him an ideal candidate for this job. © ronaldinu 2008

ok i will admit that when i first heard that Craig was the new Bond, i was very prepared to not like him and to think he ruined everything lol! but when i saw Casino Royale i was very impressed! i thought he did a great job as 007! personally i find Craig better looking than Di Caprio..because, well i like men..and Di Caprio STILL looks like a boy with some facial hair to me. i dont think he has the slightly mysterious and dangerous "edge" to him at all.

Yes! I posted below you but I had to respond here as well! Daniel Craig is the bad boy, rough around the edges kind, that cleans up well. Where as Di Caprio is the baby face that is clean always kind. Very big difference! I am a sucker for the bad boys!

haha agreed. i totally agree with u. Daniel Craig was superb and Di Caprio just doesn't read 'dark and mysterious' to me. i'm afraid he might come across as just a good looking, super famous hollywood star, acting as an agent.

Sad to say, I don't agree with you wolfie. I am not a big fan of Daniel Craig and have the tendency to be moony with Leonadro di Caprio but i still think that Daniel Craig is better as James Bond than Leonardo. Leonardo is just too pretty for me. He he he! Like some people, I do think that Daniel Craig is a very good actor and carries his role as James Bond well and I personally think that he is really a good choice for a James Bond. But for me, the best James Bond is Pierce Brosnan not because of his acting ability though, but just because I am just crazy about his to die for sexiness.

I love it! License To Thrill! Are you saying that's the name of the movie? LOL! All my life I have NEVER been a James Bond 007 fan. I couldn't stand Sean Connery. Back then with his dark hair and dark eye brows I always thought that he looked like a mannequin. I love him now, though. Maybe I would be more inclined to watch it if Leonardo Di Caprio played James Bond. That sounds very interesting. Hmmmmmmm..........license to thrill? Sounds VERY interesting! LOL! hi wolfie I like Di caprio but not as James bond, Sean connery maybe but not Di Caprio for this role. He is too short and not darkly sexy like Sean and the others that came after him. I know Di Caprio is a great actor but not for this particular role, it needs a taller, moresexy man.

I do see your point, I guess Leo is more sexy in the boyish department rather than the mature man who's 'been around' I guess I am biased when it comes to Leo and agree that Sean as well as Roger both had the 'guts' and 'masculinity' to put their roles into Bond

I think it is crazy to put Leonardo Di Caprio as the next James Bond because even though I have never been a big James Bond fan I have seen several of the movies which I liked, and I have played almost all the James Bond video games that are out in the world, and I do not see Leonardo as the James Bond type, and I think they could find someone better, maybe someone older,or someone who has more of a rugged look like the way I picture a secret agent to look.

I respect your opinion, but maybe in about ten years time when Leo is older more rugged and more masculine, hopefully by then Craig would have given the role as 007 up. What movies did you like of Bond's most of all? I have to say Roger Moore is the 007 that I like best out of them all because films like Moonraker, A View To A Kill, Octopussy all starred Roger Moore. Thanks for your input!

I've never liked the Bond actors except for Brosnan, so I'm really excited t watch di Caprio in action! I love Leo, he's such a great actor. I haven't seen him do many action stunts yet but I think he can pull it off. I agree, he's definitely more handsome than Craig! I just don't like that guy. He doesn't appeal to me at all what with his wrinkly skin and all..

How ironic. ONE person answered that she didn't like Connery as a young actor, as he looked like a mannequin, yet likes his looks, now. I SORT of agree, except I've seen Brosnan, who IS devilishly handsome, but more of a mannequin-type than Sean EVER was. Maybe in another quarter century, Brosnan will have turned out as gorgeous as the aged Connery has! Hmmm! Maybe I'll be lucky enough to see t! YUM! LOL! Maggiepie
