A few days ago i responded to an offer on a paid-to-click-site called adpaid to which i'm a member of...the ad said that they would pay $1 to your Paypal account if you enter your Paypal account address and completed one of their surveys, and that within 1 week of completing the survey they would despoit $1 into your Paypal account the ad stated...after i filled in the necessary information and press the submit button i was taken to a blank webpage,i thought nothing of it,i just figure it was a glitch in the system and that they would email me the website to the surveys in a day or so,later on in the afternoon i started to think "oops" wait a minute i didn't even think to see who the company was that was offering the $1 survey...then thats when it hit me "SCAM" i knew that they couldn't do anything without my password, but, just to be safe i decided to check my Paypal account anyway, all seemed alright with my Paypal account, until i went back to my email account "low and behold" waiting for me was a "Paypal Security Alert " email in my inbox...it looked so real the email did, that i almost fell for this ruse when i first saw it i "panic" "Oh my gosh someone is trying to steal my money!".The email stated that someone had charged $249.00 to my Paypal account for an Ipod and that the $249.00 would be charged to my Paypal account charge card(I donot have a Paypal Charge Card). It also stated that if i didnot authorize this purchase to click the dispute the charges button to dispute the charges to my Paypal account, which takes me to a "fake" Paypal Homepage which looks really authentic except for the 1.The missing ess in the HTTP:// 2.The address www.PaypaI.com and 3.The dead give away the missing "Secure Lock Icon" at the bottom of the page. The email was so authentic that when you click on the home tab of the fake Paypal Homepage it actually takes you to the real Paypal Homepage. So,Please beware of this "Scam" an don't lose your hard earned money because of greed like i almost did,be leary of offers that sounds to good to be true check them out to be sure that they exist."Whew" almost gave a thief and unexpected X-mas present......And by the way i reported it to Paypal and they said that it is in deed a phishing email...

Great topic! I get these fake Paypal emails quite often. I almost fell for it, too the first time I got one. Now I just delete them or forward them to spoof@paypal.com.
