Give me 7000 dollars instead of the banks

Last night, I heard in passing that the little bailout for the banks is going to cost each one of us seven thousand dollars, and that is provided that we pay for it right now. (So actually because we are not paying off it upfront, it is like putting 7000 dollars on a credit card).
Now, I am not sure if the figure is correct. I don't care. But it did get me to thinking:
What could I do with seven thousand dollars?
My quick answer is that seven thousand is about what I am borrowing every college semester for living expenses. It is also about five mortage payments. It is also a lot of cat food, gas, and vending machine meals.
I wish that the government would just give us poor people the money, rather than bailing out the rich. And besides it is not like the money is actually going to keep us out of a recession.

I'm having Yuwie deja vu here!
Somebody was passing something around about how much the bailout would cost us and the math was totally off, but still if we could just get our portion, I would most likely be using it to pay off bills. Some things have gotten a bit out of control.

As I said, I am not sure if the figure is right or not. But I have better things to do with seven thousand (or more) than keep a bunch of rich people rich. Darn it all, I am a poor person; if anyone deserves alms, it should be us porr people. We have bills too, right?

The bailout is a joke. I read somewhere that the loss of money was all based on what is projected they would loose. -- I mean after, all -- the worth of stock has to do with what we think essentially. I guess it's like the whole Enron thing. However, I really don't understand economics and how stock works so that's not what I really want to talk about.
We shouldn't bail out these companies because if you and I started a business and it flopped the government wouldn't be knocking on our door trying to bail us out. Instead they would probably let those same banks and companies come and take our home and our house till we had nothing left.
There's all this worry about the redistribution of wealth when Obama wins (mostly from 1% of the population or so:), but really -- the companies are taking care of it themselves as long as we don't put our hard earn money into helping them. Why not give the rest of us a shot at capitalism. That $7000 dollars would make a great small investment into a small business for ourselves.

Yeah, giving us small business owners (struggling freelance writer, I am) and those of us who want to start one would probably be a better plan. Too bad that the government would never consider giving us the money to invest in ourselves.

Even now, they are not disclosing how bad it really is. This bailout is merely the first of several bailouts. And still no bailout for me, the straving college student.
