Our Sheltie is a bi blue color-headed white. She has wo blue eyes and is quite unique. She seems to see things that aren't there if you know what I mean. She always is looking up and around as if she sees "ghosts" or perhaps radio waves or microwaves in the air. Anyone out there have similar situations. I have heard blue eyed dogs seem to do this more often??

I have never seen a blue eyed dog, she must be beautiful, I believe dogs can see things that we don't anyway, cats as well, I think they are more intuned to spirituality than we are. I just had a quick look on the net about it...and here is what one site said...
Your dog might have a build up of old cells;
Your dog might be producing excess tears;
Your dog might have diabetes;
Your dog might have cataracts;
Your dog might have glaucoma; or
Your dog might be going blind.
If your dog does have blue eyes, rest assured that there are steps you can take to help your furry friend overcome this ailment.
You might want to watch your dog closely to see if their eyes heal; finally,
You might want to have your dog tested.
If none of the above remedies work then you should consult your vet to see what exactly might be causing the problem
This does not mean your dog comes under these...

I know that this is an old topic, but in the hopes that you check in on it, here's some information about SHELTIES.... and blue eyes.... and color head whites .... & merle genes
I have been involved in shelties for about 25 years. I've loved & my heart has been owned by many - Champion show dogs, obedience competitors and bed warmers. I started a sheltie rescue program 15 years ago, & have never regretted all the shelties that I have helped along the way.
First off, I suggest you go to the AKC.org website and read about the breed. It is wonderful reading & describes the "allowed" colors, the combinations, the "correct" look of a sheltie. While the breed standard does not allow for white or color headed white shelties, it does not mean that the dog isn't a sheltie or that it can't be your best friend or that it can't compete in any of the competitions except the Breed Ring. What it does mean is that it carries the merle gene.
That gene results in the faded coloring you see in some shelties. It is perfectly acceptable EXCEPT for one thing.
When breeding 2 dogs with the merle gene, you run an extremely high risk of rendering some or all of the puppies deaf or blind.
The blue eyes that you are seeing in your dog is the visible evidence of the merle gene. It is not abnormal coloring. It probably won't affect your dog's vision if s/he isn't already diagnosed with any blindness or vision problems. It's simply the color of the eye... much like Huskies are known to have blue eyes.
But PLEASE do not breed that dog without doing some serious study of genetics because you could be producing a litter of deaf/blind puppies and that would be a pity.

My husky has one blue eye and one brown. His mother had both blue eys. They are very beautiful. His eyes are one of the most beautiful features he has.
One of the dogs from this litter has brown eyes with a blue cirle around them and they are very strange looking.
