So by now almost everybody's heard the story about the mugging of Ashley Todd. The 20 year old college republican field representative was supposedly attacked by a "Big Black" guy at an ATM in Pittsburg. The attacker was then enraged when she looked at Ashley's car to see a McCain bumber sticker on it and carved the letter "B" on her face to represent Barack.
I hope the police find this fugitive. Oh that's right, this was all a lie.
Local officials said today that she admitted to making up the whole thing. Yes, this was a hoax. She's said to have some kind of mental disorder.
All I know is, the republicans aren't looking too good right now.

It was a pleasure to see this young woman in her jailhouse outfit and handcuffs. I don't hold the Republican party itself responsible for this loon but I do hope she serves some kind of sentence for wasting the time of the detectives who investigated this *crime* for hours.

It was obvious she did it herself as the B was carved backwards like it would if you were looking in a mirror. I am surprised anyone took it seriously. Either she was a nut case or the republicans paid her to make a big fuss.

I gotta say that I don't think she was paid. I just think she did to help get pity votes for McCain. I just cant believe the police took it serious I mean it was obvious that she did carve the b her self. That's all I wanted to say...Thank you

This is not a reflection on the republican party. The actions of the few do not speak for the entire group. She was a pathetic attention seeking little twit who probably wanted her 15 minutes of fame and a chance to agitate the already unstable political tension. However, that does not mean the republicans as a whole have anything to do with this, nor should their reputation be diminished because of the deceitful ways of a little girl.

Is this Pittsburgh news? I haven't heard this story before. Neither party is looking good right now.

Ashley Todd's "mental disorder" is the same one so many Bush administration officials and hangers-on--from Libby, through Gonzalez, through Ambramoff--have when caught in a lie.
She claims a version of "I don't recall." Don't believe it. Hopefully, the Pittsburgh District Attorney won't either.
Her views are skewed, no doubt. But she doesn't have any recognizable not-guilty-by-reason-of-insanity disorder such as schizophrenia or dissociative personality disorder. She planned this out. She laid out her story through twitters. She had a clear political motive. She took a picture of herself using her computer and she sent it to Matt Drudge to get the whole let's-smear-Obama-through-race-baiting campaign rolling.
She deserves jail time.
