semestered vs non semestered high school

I want to hear what you think. I have heard arguments on both sides. semester - eases course load, less marking for teacher, students have consistent lessons everyday, universities run this way non - courses run all year so students don't forget after summer, more variety, ability to run extra curriculars with classes within school year if your an educator, student or parent, let me know what you think. our local school is non and debating a switch.
