why do people advertise on PTC sites???

i mean why would someome advertise his referral link on PTC sites,, do they get enough referrals?? i dont understand why would they advertise so costly,,like it is $18 for 1000 views in sandraclicks, i dont think they get any referrals from PTC sites..
