When do you put your tree up?

A lot of people have a tradition as to when they put their tree up... sometimes it's on Thanksgiving or the weekend after... sometimes it's later in the month of December.
We don't really have any set day we put it up, it's just whenever we feel like getting into the Christmas mood. Most years I try to wait as long as possible, because the little ones like to try to take the tree down. I get so tired of constantly replacing the ornaments they've taken off the tree.
Which leads me to ask when you take your tree down. Last few years mine has come down the day after Christmas. Normally I'd like to leave it up until probably New Years, but not with the little ones around, lol.

Usually ours goes up the day after Thankgiving. Or sometime during that week after. This year with the baby coming before Christmas we are going to try and do things a bit differently. So I am thinking up goes our Christmas stuff a week or so before we do the turkey. I would like to make it special for our daughter. It being the last family of 3 event.

Hopefully the baby will come at a convenient time and not during any holiday celebrations. I had that fear last year. My baby was due beginning of January and I was worried he'd come early... on Christmas day. I just kept praying he would wait as long as possible, and he did, he was a week late, born on Jan 16.

We don't really have a set day either. But at least 3 weeks before Christmas. No use in going through the trouble of putting up a tree just to put it back down right away. As far as taking it down, usually right after New Years. My girlfrend likes to take it down sooner than I do. I would keep it up a week after new years if it was up to me. I love Christmas, but right now I'm out of a job, just like so many other people so it's kind of depresing. Of coarse if I suddenly find one before christmas
that will take care of that.

A lot of retail stores are hiring right now just for the season. It's the busiest season for them, so wouldn't hurt to try. At least some money is better than no money.

We usually put our tree up the weekend after thanksgiving or the next weekend. We had a little bit of trouble with our middle one taking stuff off the tree too. Now this year she should be old enough to know better but I'm sure she'll get her little brother to do it. He is 15 months old so he is going to be curious and I'm sure keep at it. We usually take it down somewhere between christmas and new years. we don't really have a set date, just whenever we feel like putting in the effort to take everything back down and pack it back up.

The twins were awful when it came to the tree. I couldn't get them to leave it alone for a minute. The toddler isn't awful, but the baby is mobile now, so I'm not sure how he's going to do around it.

I usually put my christmas decorations up around the first weekend that the children break up from school which is about the 19th December. I only put them up so late because I do not like the children getting to excited to soon as they are a pain then! I take them down just before they go back to school a couple of days after new year.

When my children were home, we always put our tree up the day after Thanksgiving. But, over the years, I have got more lax. In fact, one year, we didn't even put up a tree. Now, that wasn't by agreement - just couldn't get my husband to get the tree down and I couldn't. But, I usually have it up a week or two before Christmas. Our kids and grandchildren come for Christmas dinner and enjoy seeing the tree. I do hate that we never put up a real one anymore, though.

A real one is always such a fuss, we use artificial now, but I think once the children are older we will probably get a real one every year. Hubby likes it better.

I'm not going to put up a tree this year. All my children are grown and now live in other states. They have Christmas with their family. Since all my grandchildren are
not going to be around this year, I will spend most of my time helping at the shelters, hospitals and other places I try to help at. My friends and I are already getting ready for Thanksgiving as well as shopping for gifts for the children who otherwise would not have food or gifts on this special day. I like that I wont have to worry with putting a tree up nor taking a tree down. My friends and I will be putting one or more up in these places I have mention. And we will be taking some trees to families who could not afford one. This is my special way of celebrating the holidays. Time is a special gift.

When I was growing up we had an artificial tree and it was a family tradition to put it up and decorate it the Friday after Thanksgiving. But since I've been married we always have a live tree. It is just not feasible to have a tree up for a month like that. We usually put it about 2 weeks before Christmas and take it down often on New Years day.
This year will be very different for us and I have begun to have mixed emotions about it. We will leave on Dec 15 to spend the holidays at a tropical location. I don't even think we will be decorating the house. I'm starting to worry about my son, who is 4, missing out on too much, but I know there will be decorations and all at the place we will be staying.
I might get a live pine wreath to hang in my house somewhere just for the smell. I suppose I could take it to a Senior home before we leave.

However , we dont have a set date . usually we would do it growing up the first weekend in december . I remember there was a time we did it right before xmas eve and that sucked , because i love to see the tree all lit up . my dad family would always do it on xmas ever put up the tree and then leave out the gifts .

We have always put our tree up around Thanksgiving. We have a fake tree so we can leave it up a whole lot longer. Last year we put it up on Thanksgiving day. The kids love it- it creates such a nice warm atmosphere in the house. We usually leave it up until New Year's Day but sometimes I take it down early because I want to get the house picked up and back to normal. There have been years that I have taken it down the day after- how sad is that?

We usually put our tree up and decorate for Chritmas the weekend after Thanksgiving or the week after Thanksgiving if we are busy that weekend. I like to have the Christmas tree and decorations up to get into the Christmas spirit. We usually take down our tree a couple of days after Christmas, because I sometimes get sick of the mess of having the tree and everything else out and want my house back to normal.

The day after Thanksgiving is usually when I do it. I hate celebrating one holiday before another is over. As far as the little kids, we only decorate the top of the tree. It looks funny sometimes but atleast the kids are safe and we don't have to keep redecorating it. We always take it down before New Years.
