If you get a pimple, are you able to just leave it or do you HAVE to pop it?

I am one of those people that can NEVER seem to just leave a pimple alone when I get one. The second I see one I just have to go and pop it. I kn ow this is not the best thing for me to do as it can scar my skin and cause redness etc but I just can't help myself! A pimple to me is like a red flag to a bull!
So what about you? Are you a popper or a leaver?

No way I can leave those lonely stuff there, James. lol..
I would make sure that they are sufficiently nailed and popped. I can't remember any time that I left them alone. In fact we have a good rapport since my pre-teens and guess what i still get them? We are kinda inseparable.

I can relate to this attitude 100% mimpi. It's as if they are calling us right? They have no right to be there so it is our duty to send them on their way! I like to think of it as a sport of sorts. lol. There is no question that it is best to leave them be but it's just too hard to ignore them. Thanks for the response.

As much as I want to leave it alone, I can't help it.
I just have to pop it. Haha
I've a lot of pimple scars already but what can I do? I just have to pop it!
I just put a lot of whitening cream when the scars appear.;D

You sound just like me then divinegwapa. It's like these pimples have thero won little voice and they keep daring us to pop them! I am already light skinned so whitening cream is not an option for me I don't think. Might look a bit odd on a man too! lol. Thanks for the response.

I'm a popper-leaver combo. I pop pimples when I feel like it and when they bother me and sometimes I don't pay them any attention. Though I'm one to keep on touching that part to see if it's still there all the time and contemplate on what I should do about it. Good morning James!

So you have introduced a little yin AND yang into your pimple experiences SaintAnne? Nothing like mixing things up to keep it interesting! I will always do the feeling check myself actually. We gotta reassure ourselves that it's still there right? Thanks for responding and good morning to you too.

Pimples for me a few and far between but when I do get one I am a popper sorry but I can't just leave them alone. I will pop them then dab on peroxide then use a acne treatment on it. And usually by the next day it is gone. When I was a teenager I had acne and I hated it. I only get it occasionally now and that suits me fine. My brother though he has acne still and some of his is called cystic acne and he suppose to take medication for it.

You're lucky then if pimples are a rare occurence for you. I don't get a lot of them, but I always seem to have one somewhere at any given point in time and I can't leave them be either. I've known people with cystic acne and it presented one heck of a battle for them. We have to be so careful with acne and especially when it's on the face because we can scar ourselves so easily. I never had bad acne when I was a teenager, but it was enough for me to be self conscious about it. Thanks for the response mtdewgurl.

A popper, for sure! I am aware of the possible consequences aswell, but I can't leave them alone either! Same thing goes for scabs which you shouldn't scrape off, etc. I even have a hard time leaving my boyfriends pimples alone; gotta pop them all! LOL! (imagine that would be the new pokemon theme )

LOL, I was the same as a kid! I wouldn't dream of 'popping' just any random stranger, but for my boyfriend I can happily make an exeption. He's not a popper so otherwise the nasty white-pointed sucker will look at me all day long, screaming to pop the thing! whaha.. this discussion is so much fun .

So even this discussion is getting you motivated then? So stop writing and get poppin' cyberfluf! lol. I had a friend that was getting his hair cut and halfway through it, the hairdresser started squeezing a pimple on his neck! Now THAT to me is freaky and I don't think I could handle the same thing happening to me at all.

Damn the consequences cyberfluf, it's FUN right? Don't even get me started on scabs either! lol. I was one of those kids that would view a scab as a challenge of a lifetime and would painstakingly work at it for hours. It hurt, sure, but this was the last thing on my mind at the time and I just HAD to remove it all. It would then of course bleed, reset a new scab; and I would start all over again! The popping of other people's pimples by the way is not something I can get my head around. My own, yes..... Other people can have their own to themselves! Thanks for the response and happy poppin'! Make sure you contact the Pokemon people too. Popping pimples could be a new weapon for some character they've never had before.

Well I know that people say that popping them is disgusting but I have always believed that you are simply releasing the poison and helping it to get better faster. I tend to pop them and then medicate the spot so that the bacteria that cause it die and no more form.
I always removed them when I was younger but these days I just do not get them any more. I rarely have sugar any more and that is supposed to be the food that causes them. However, if you get a boil then squeezing it is the worst thing you can do apparently. I thought they were just big pimples but I read that they are different bacteria and if you try to pop them then the bacteria will spread and you will have more and may have to have antibiotics to get rid of them.

I don't even break it down into reasoning like that and just pop 'em when I see 'em! It's not overly wise at times though because it can end up leaving scarring and emlarged pores. Especially if we're talking facial pimples. These boils are something I have no experience of whatsoever (Thank God!) and they do sound rather nasty. I think I've seen one though. I don;t get a heap of pimples anymore either, not on my face anyway! I guess I could look to cut down my sugar intake, but I don't like the sounds of that at all.

Boils are very nasty. I was puzzled when I got one. It just appeared over night and felt like a largish blind pimple but the lump really hurt to touch. I thought that you only got them when you did not wash properly but apparently that is not the only cause.
It seems that my immune system is not so good now that I am ill so I am more prone to bacterial infections. This apparently is a nasty blood bacteria that can spread throughout the whole body if you do not treat it properly. I had to have antibiotics to get rid of it as it did not go by itself. I still have a very small scar from it as it burst 3 times before the doctor would give me the antibiotics. Thankfully I have not had any more.

Hi, James72! I am a leaver. I would not pop a pimple. It will only cause more furher damage. It will leave a more noticeable blemish in the end. I will just leave it alone and let it go away on its own. I will take out my Acne Terminator Treatment Gel, and just zap it that way. I would hate to mess with a pimple. Especially when it is red. I will leave it be.

Heya Cream! You're far more disciplined than me then! lol. You're right in saying that it can cause further damage, but I just can't help myself. It's a good thing I don't get many on my face otherwise I could be in a bit of trouble I think. I like the sound of the gel too. Even by name alone, it gives the impression that those pimples have NO chance!

I am a popper, I think a red spot is not as unattractive as a red spot with a white summit haha. I rarely get these pimples, but when I do they are gone as fast as they show up! I never experienced any problems with scarring or widening of the pores when I have popped them, my skin looks very good for an 18 year old, I may get a pimple during my monthly but it is never a big one, I consider myself lucky compared to my peers haha. Happy mylotting and have a great day!

I rarely get them on my face anymore thankfully but do get them in other areas. I too have to pop them and I just can;t seem to stop! I am 36 years old too by the way and interestingly enough when I was 18 I had little or no pimples at all! Go figure. It does sound like you have very healthy skin though so yes, lucky you! Thanks for the response sugarplum.

I leave it alone. I used to pop it whenever it dares show up in my face, but I have a small scar on my chin (barely visible but I am SUCH a vanity girl ) because of that, so now I tend to leave it alone and cross my fingers in the hopes that it goes away without the need for force.

I'm a popper all the way! I don't care where it is either, I'm taking it down and out regardless. It's far better to leave them be and especially if they're on our face, but I just can't help myself. Once again you've proven that you have more patience than I do! lol.

well i think what this also proved is that you are less worried about your looks than i am! which is a good thing. vanity (especially when it comes to my face. as if i'm a celebrity or something! ) is one thing i hate about myself.

It follows the same pattern for my reincarnation too.

I am somewhat the same riya and no matter how much I try to convince myself to just leave the damn things alone, I always seem to end up attacking them! lol. It is far better to leave them be, but I just can't bring myself to do that. Thanks for your comments and happy scratching!

Popping them leaves unsightly marks on your skin. I know that so well but that hasn't stopped me from popping it. EUWW! Gross! I know. lol. Though I am lately on the road to self discipline and better habits. Let's see, how long I stick to anti-popping strategy.

I just leave it pimple alone.
In my schooldays when i got pimples first time i remembered nicely I popped out one pimple of my face, after couple of days i saw that two more pimples have out on my face. I checked from our family doctor and he said that if you dont want to more pimples on your face just leave it and he gaves me one lotion and strickly warned that dont popped out pimples from your face otherwise you will get another pimples on your faced because of infection of old pimple.
After that days i dont popped out pimple and just leave it, this pimple is just for few days and automatically pimple get cleaned from our face.
Doctor said that pimple coming because of our bad digession system or if we do not clean our stomach properly then only these pimple have occurs, and secondly if we eat lot of oily or spicy foods thats another reason of creating pimples on our face.
So i always control on my diggession and taking less oily and spicy food in my meal.
Anyways take care of your face and please dont popped out pimples from face other wise other pimples will waiting for welcome.
Happy Mylotting.

Yes, it's definitely best to leave them be. Aside from the reasons you gave, it can be very easy to cause scarring on our faces if we get too agressive with popping as well. I know I should always leave a pimple to go away on it's own, but I just can't help myself and end up popping it most of the time! Diet is also a major factor to consider and the better we eat and the more water we drink, the lesser the chance of recurring pimple problems. Some people though are just unfortunate enough to have issues with them no matter what they do. Thanks for the response rakesh and happy mylotting to you also!

i'd pop it.
but i'd have to wait till it's ripe before i can pop it. If not it'll hurt even more and i won't be able to get the pus out.
but being as impatient as i am, most of the time i'd speed the process to make it rip by playing with my finger. Knowing that our fingers is the dirtiest body part, i'd instigate the pimple to ripen and so i can pop it. Either that or i'd use toothpaste to dry up the pimple.

You have certainly been descriptive there regal! The slightest mention of the word "pus" and many of us retch I think! lol. I have heard about using toothpaste too actually, but have never tried it myself. Minty fresh pimples could be interesting! Thanks for the response.
