My daughter has a birthday party to go to later this afternoon.

The party starts 2pm. It ends around 4ish. The little girl is turning 6. I think this is a pretty good time frame. I have been to longer kid parties, and some of the tend to melt down. Do you think 2 hours is appropriate? Or should it be longer or shorter?

At that age I think 2 hours is plenty of time for a party. After awhile kids just start to get bored or cranky and then they rub off on the other kids and before you know it the whole thing is a mess.

I think the length of the party depends mostly on the parent's tolerance more than the child's. Children can be left to play among themselves for quite some time, you know.

Well I hoped she had lots of fun it is always good for kids to interreact with other children in settings other then school and home.

I think about and hour and a half is long enough for little ones. I would let a few kids stay though after the party is overwith.

I think two hours is just about right, I mean anymore than that would just be too long. I hope that she enjoyed her party!

The parties I throw are usually 2-3 hours, no less and no more. I think anything less than 2 hours and there just isn't enough time, anything more than 3 hours and it's going to get boring.

The parties we usually throw and go to are 2 hours but sometimes run into 3 hours especially if everyone is having a good time and gabbering and catching up on things.

I think a two hour party is good enough. They can have something to eat and a lot of time to play together. After two hours things may become boring if the party is not well organised. So I do believe that 2 hrs are more than enough. © ronaldinu 2008

Two hours should be fine. Their attention span is shorter than that so by having some games, opening gifts, maybe watching a video to calm down, having refreshments, then they should be ready to go. At least that is the way we have tried to do it.

I think thats a great time. When I have birthday parties for my kids thats about how long they last. Especially at that age, they have a short attention span and its hard to keep their interest. Thats plenty of time to play, do cake and icecream, and then presents.
