Do you think african americans are voting for Obama because of his race? If Obama's elected president do you think his presidency will restore the pride that once exist in the African American culture?

I think some pride will be restored but the full extent may never be restored. Many African-Americans are still bitter about their past and they have every right to be. There is still racial discrimination going on today and to expect it to just come to a stopping hault after this election(assuming Obama wins) is unrealistic. I do hope and believe Obama will get elected. And yes, I also think many African-Americans will vote for Barack because he is half black but at the same time I feel its completely appropriate and fair because there are also white people out there not voting for Barack simply because he IS black. It would be interesting to see what the polls would look like if Barack Obama wasn't half African-American and his name was Chad Peterson. I think that "Chad Peterson" would have a commanding lead because the majority of the African-American tends to vote democrat and coupled with the votes they would recieve from people that aren't voting for Obama because of his race, it wouldn't even be close. Of course my views are biased but if you share my beliefs, views, and values I think you will understand and agree.

I don't think that is true for all African-Americans. I know a couple who are very Republican and are appalled by the way Obama has started to portray himself. They would never vote for him.
The pride in the African American culture has been growing for years. Obama has nothing to do with it. Yes, it will probably feel like an accomplishments to have an African-American president and should really mean the end of segregation and racism. To the contrary though Obama's campaign made race an overwhelming issue in order to win this race. After the hype is over, many will be left wondering why the feel good fuzzy warm feeling is gone. He will be in office but it will not be life-changing for many of his followers, at least not the way they want it to happen.
