DIRECTV2PC-How do I set it up?

Hey. I just heard about DirecTV's new "DIRECTV2PC Beta". And I can't figure out how to set it up. I downloaded the program (didn't download the test program to see if it would run on my computer, it wouldn't download), and when I open it, it searches for my DVR, and a minute or so later, stops, with no results. No matter how many times I click search again, it won't find my DVR! Is there something else I'm supposed to do? Do I have to connect my DVR to my internet router or something? I honestly have no clue what I'm doing. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
