Do You Believe in Intelligent Extraterrestrial Life?

With the Universe constantly expanding, and incomprehensibly large, do you believe that Earth is not the only planet with intelligent life? This is a debate that cuts deep into religious, spiritual and scientific views. If you believe that aliens do exist in our universe, on what basis do you come to this conclusion? If you believe that there is no possibility of life off of Earth, what are your reasons for denying this possibility?

Even Vedas, the ancient book accepts ET's. It is always stupid to conclude that we are alone in this universe.. Many genuine sightings of UFO has been discouraged by the governments as hoax.Even i have sighted a UFO thing in India along with my friends in India, but have not reported it..People who deny the theory argues that water and air are essential for human life..But there may be life which does not need water and air, their design may not require water and air. Recent findings at Mars suggests that there may be life (Micro)now and the planet could have supported life once..I have also remember reading that some ruins are spotted in one of the planet. I strongly believe that life does exist apart from earth and it will come to light very soon.

Hi gaisri..it is nice to know that someone else thinks as I do below I have described the UFO I saw...yes there is life on other planets, yes they are probably more intelligent and also as you say they may not need the same things as us eg air, water, and as you beleive so do I that WILL come to light very soon...littleowl

I definitely believe there is intelligent life out there somewhere. As a matter of fact, I'm constantly running the program SETI@home on my laptop. I mean, if WE'RE here, then I think it's just as possible that life popped up elsewhere too. I think it's both silly and arrogant to believe that we're the only ones in this huge universe. I remember the movie Contact (or whatever it was called), one of the characters states that 'if we really are the only ones, then it sure is a big waste of space.' That statement always stuck with me for some reason. Of course it IS possible that that's true about us being it, but I'm not one of the people who believe that side of the coin.

Hi writerdave..I beleive their is definitley alien life...planet earth is a dot compared to this huge universe, there is always something more that we are finding out there, and we cannot be 'the' only life in the universe. My reasson for saying this is I have seen a UFO right outside my flat in 1978, we had a bay window in the front room where the TV was and were watching it, all of a sudden there was interference with the TV, looking outside the window there was huge UfO disc shaped it was circular and black with red and yellow lights flashing all around it, we looked spellbound at it it hovered for a few minutes then just took off and was gone in a second. The following day it was the talk of the estate. In my opinion anyone who thinks we are the only ones in this universe has a very closed mind as to what is actually going on around us, I firmly beleive that life from other planets/planet visit us regularly, and would even go to say that there is alien life on this planet that the government and NASA keep from us all....littleowl
