It would be nice to think they share the same responsibility. They have a traffic ticket to pay it. Instead of of trying often to get out of it. Many celebs make so much more money than any of us. It would be nicer to believe they would take on more of the community responsibility. But only a few have I seen do this. Unfortunately, most seem to take less.

We all share equally in our responsibility to society. After all, we all live here. What we need to do is to stop giving attributes to people as if they kow more. It is time get rid of the need to make others accountable for things that are beyond their means. Celebraties and super stars are entertainers that mirror or create visions that are operating in the society. It is up to us along with them to answer the call. Separate fantasy from reality.

Actually super stars bear the burden of being role models, the more their fame, the heavier is their responsibility. For instance I think Brad Pitt played the hero in movie, "Seven Years in Tibet." It is supposed to be based on fact but its crafting impacts reality and the future. The reality is that China conquered Tibet and still occupies it. They did a little genocide along the way and forced the Dali Lama into exile. While this is true, before the movie there was a "Free Tibet" movement. I think the way the movie projected the power of China and Tibetan's subjugation caused most viewers to come away feeling helpless and hopeless. Certainly, except for a few demonstrations before and during China's 2008 hosting of the Summer Olympics, freeing Tibet advocates have had almost zero impact. I think Pitt should have refused to part unless the viewer walked away with hope for the freeing of Tibet from China's Empire. That said, each of us should act responsibly: assess our actions, refuse to bully, refuse to perform unethical or immoral acts, and strive for perfection.

If you are referring to their public behavior and how it effects the "commonplace" people, no I don't believe they do. I believe the "common" place people need to stop being puppets who do it just because so and so famous person does and use their own minds.

I believe they have a greater responsibility to society. We see them constantly in the media. We quote celebreties, we want to be involved in their lives and want to be like them sometimes. If they are not acting appropriatly in society people, especially young children, may get the wrong idea.

Actually all of us have the same level of responsibility toward our community and society. But because the superstars and celebrities are well known many of us took advantage of their situation and expect them to carry out the duties to serve their nation. However the celebrities should accept the responsibilities if they are willing to, because they can't deny their situation in the society is undeniably higher than the common people. They are well known, therefore they can easily influence others to do whatever they want people to do. They can organize a charity concert and collect money to donate to the poor, but we the common people can organize a concert but who wants to attend if we are not popular? So the answer is yes, if the celebrities are willing they should accept the responsibilities.

Not really. They're people, just like the rest of us. We elevate them for whatever reason, but in the end, they're citizens like the rest of us. The only time I take a step away from that stance is when it comes to their speaking. Everyone has the right to free speech. However, because celebrities have such a vast stage, they have to be more careful than the rest of us. Oprah learned that the hard way when she talked about mad cow disease on her show and not eating beef. Because she made a statement that was untrue (American beef being contaminated), she got slapped with a nasty lawsuit she had to settle. In some ways, celebrities have to watch their words carefully. It's not fair, but the damage they can wreck with a mis-stated fact or out and out lie is huge compared with what the average person could do. In that way, they may have a greater responsibility. But in terms of their responsibilities to their fellow man, not really. Some might say they have a moral obligation, but that's a matter of opinion.

actually they are people like us...so they have the same responsibility that we have. but due to the inherent nature of the society they get a lot of attention.... hence the first thing is they should lead a life with moral values and they can also endorse any programme that is good for the society....all this is because they are likely to be followed by common people.
