alcoholism vs fun free time

How do you define what is alcoholism ?
(alcoholism - systematical consuming of alcohol)
Do you or someone near you has problems with alcohol ? How do you response to them ?
I had one friend, who was quite an alcoholic, whenever he has free time, he drinks. It was so annoying, so I've stopped communicating with him 3 months ago. I find alcohol drinking without any sense nonsense.

I believe you need to get a life because drinking is not everything, it is the only thing. Drinking made me feel better. drinking is fun when we are out with friends.. though i believe drinking should be in limited amounts.. but it is a good source of amusement..
