the best way to build your credit rating is to get credit and keep up the payments, but if you have been in bad debt and want to get something then you cant, so how can you rebuild a credit rating if you cant get credit to prove that you will pay,
has anyone else had this problem in the past?

I have never had bad credit, but 2 years ago I had none. I couldn't get a credit card to help build it. I finally got a walmart cc with a $75 limit. I used it to slowly build my credit. I made sure to use it monthly and paid the bills on time. After doing that for a bit I was able to get better cards, and now can pretty much get any I choose.
Just start with a store credit card and work your way up.
