i watched this movie with my mom and i can't believe that i'm hooked on it. hehe..
we made a dvd copy of it and we play it over and over.
one would think that we'd get tired of it at some point...but we haven't...not yet...and i don't think we'll ever get tired of it. heheeh..
the songs are just awesome and are used appropriately.
haha... i'm a young adult and some expected me to just like the movie not love it...it's really a great movie. even my niece loves it and is singing along each time she watches with us.
if you haven't seen it, you should watch it. =)

I love it, too! I watched it first with my friends then I watched it again with my mom in the movie theater - and that's also before I got a dvd copy. My mom is also super hooked to the movie. I love the songs and it really seem fitting to the storyline of the movie - seem natural. LOL. ~

okay! i just watched the movie last night and i enjoyed it. so now i am gonna give a full break down of what i thought. First the best singers are in my opinion. Meryl and the girl who played her daugther. I had heard reviews that Meryl wasn't that great of a singer but I surprised that she really could carry a song very well. It was most enjoyable when she and amanda sung their songs. It was great how they combined all these songs into a story line and it works very well. I had no idea that they could be put together in such a fashion.
My favorite songs are the following: Money Money Money, Our Last Summer, Lay All Your Love On Me, Super Trooper,The Winner Takes It All,I Have A Dream, wasn't bad either.
I just want to point out that Meryl did an excellent job singing "The Winner Takes It All"She performed like a true diva. Watch out music world!I just loved the repeating chorus at the end of Lay All Your Love on Me. It just has a very trance like feel to it.
Everyone looks like they are having such a good time on screen.I have never seen Meryl so free on screen before. I must admit when I saw the previews I was thinking okay this is a B movie. I really don't think it will be that great but the songs really make it shine! Now I have to go out and buy all ABBA's stuff. I had liked them before and it was a joy to see a lot of the songs i loved put together in such a fashion.
It would be cool to see a sequel but I am not sure what they could use since most of their greatest hits were sung on this one.
Overall a good movie. To be honest though. I wouldn't really watch it for the story line. If i owned it. It would be because of the songs i loved. i would just skip to my favorite songs and watch then over and over again. (Is that a bad thing?)lol

Sorry to be a party pooper here, lol! I'm really glad that you liked the film so much, but I wasn't so keen. I loved the music and found it a really cheery and happy film, but I thought that the storyline and the acting wasn't too great! Meryl Streep was fantastic, but others left me disappointed. And the storyline was a bit silly and just seemed to be there so that they had an excuse to sing the songs!
I know that loads of people really enjoyed the whole thing though just like you did, and I hope that you continue to enjoy it!

Well, "Mamma mia" introduced me to Abba, so I'm really grateful for that... mow they're my 2nd favorite band (my first is Heart) Their music is amazing and its nice to hear really great pop/disco-melodies (since I'm more of a rock chick). Meryl Streep nails each and every song, Amanda Seyfried has a very talented voice and who knew that former 007 agent, Pierce Brosnan, could sing? The songs fit the movie scenes perfectly and its one of my favorite musicals... 8P

I absoloutly loved it. In fact, I was thinking of going to see it at the theater again. Now that's something I haven't done in over 20 years. Then I heard the sing-a-long version was coming out. Perfect excuse to go see it again. Only to find out it's not at our local theater. So I either have to go out and buy the DVD which I'm definitly going to do, or travel 25 minutes to se it. or how about both?
