Give you a big hug. Yes! the economy is bad and it's going to get worse no matter who is going to be the president. But, however, you should always look at the better side. Don't always be pessimistic. Yes it's hard now, but we all get by and better days will come. take care

*hugs you* ... I'm happy to see another teen who actually SEES that there is one... my advice... we arent going to get a minimum wage job, use your time to come up with something super weird/creative to do, maybe get togethor once a week (like saturdays) and hold a SAHM break day, a SAHM is a Stay at home mom, you would probably have to look into a couple laws, but this would probably fall under weekly babysitting, not a daycare, essentially I would suggest getting togethor at one of your friends house (remember its suggested no more than three kids to every caretaker... I think the legal ammount is 6, but I'm not sure on that) and the moms pay you accordingly for their break, possibly even suggest them starting a club or something, but I think a lot of SAHMs would go for that, there is other stuff too, but the first thing you should do if you want money and cant find a job, is think about how much your time is worth, and how its best spent, and where it will pay off in the long haul, that earlier was just a suggestion that I might try in my area sooner or later, but there are all kinds of ideas out there, just keep your mind open, never know where a business idea will come from :P
Good luck to you and your dad on finding decent jobs though :)
