Does anyone else get so annoyed by negative campaigning to the extent that they want to vote for the candidate being scrutinized? Do you look into what the commercial says and research it and try to find out the whole story? How effective do you feel negative campainging is?

It puts me off! It is normal now to concentrate on personalities rather than policies, style rather than substance. This is because most people have lost interest in politics and lost trust in politicians and hence the 15 second soundbite has become the source of news for most people. hence negative campaigning fits that mould so it is easy to fit a meningless jibe at the other person into that 15 seconds and for many people this is what sticks.
Of course what you should do is to study all the candidates and all their policies and give them a positive or negative mark on whether you agree or disagree with each policy. At the end you can add up the scores and vote for the winner! If only people actually studied the issues rather than some trivial aspect of the personaity as decided by the media....
