There is a time where you grow up and cut the umbilical cord. You chose the one you love. other wise you are going to be in for a lonely life, because parents will rarely like the person you are with since you are their child and no one is good enough for you in their eyes. My parents didn't like my step sisters husband at first. I think maybe because he was Puertorican(sp?) so they jumped to conclusions and stereotypes, but now they love him and they have a very close bond. You might set up a way for your parents to get to better know your SO.

i would as love does conquer all so they say!
you know that your family will always be there for you. If you really do adore someone as much as to want to spend the rest of your life with them then I really do think your family should respect that
