Pink Floyd has been my favorite band for a long time. They are not psychedelic after Syd Barrett left. In my opinion, Syd IS Psychedelic & everything else is a tad below him. Waters turned out to be a fantastic writer about the inner workings of human beings & technically David Gilmour is better than Syd, BUT Take Syd's lyrics & his much more experimental guitar, toss in Richard Wright's Keyboards & harmonies & NOBODY touches Pink Floyd's first album....NOBODY!
I, like alot of the rest of you first heard about Floyd thru their big 3: Dark Side, Animals, The Wall & I should throw in Meddle.None of these except maybe Meddle are the least bit Psychedelic. When Syd Barrett left Pink Floyd he took all of his humor, playfullness & Madness with him. Floyd was never the same. I like the post Syd stuff but I could be on a deserted island w/ a generator & all I need is Piper at the Gates of Dawn & an Island girl & I could die peacefully.

Pink Floyd is the only "psychedelic" band I listen to so, Yeah I would say that they are. I enjoy Pink Floyd a great deal. It's great music. My favorite songs is 'Echoes'.

pink floyd is not only the greatest psychedelic band but also the greatest rock band of all time. Jefferson airplane was probably the only other psychedelic band which came close to matching pink floyd's psychedelic sounds. Richard wright was the heart and soul of pink floyd. Nick mason, rick wright, gilmour and waters formed a formidal ble force during the rock and roll era.
