Yes. WE are the aliens, descended from a pair of babies that were sent from the disintegrating planet Krypton. Over the millenia since we arrived, we've been DE-evolving those super-powers, convincing our genes that--since we don't HAVE to use those super-powers--we don't have them and thus -don't develop them.
