I wanted to be a working students when I was about to step in college, but I did not have the chance to be because my aunts would send me allowance, but, really it has been one of the things I am curious of.
Have you worked as a student while you were studying? Was it worth? Was it exciting? Was it fun?

I was a working student during my last semester because I only had one subject so, I looked for a place where I can spend my time working, and my college provided me the reading room. It's the college's small library where I have serve as the front desk person. It was fun and quite boring.
Fun because at the end of the month you get your earning, boring because you are stuck in a library where everyone is reading.

Working while also being a student was sort of fun and it did give me alot of money which i otherwise would not have, however it impacts your grades so mcuh that i didnt find it worth it and instead i prefer to focus on my studies.

I've never tried being a working student but I'd always want to! Some may say that its too tiring and you can't focus more on your studies! I personally don't believe them. for me, its just a matter of balancing your time and keeping in mind your responsibility as a student. I believe that being a working student is exciting and you can earn money from that which would really help you in your studies.

Others than tutoring in high school (which I think most people have done), I did work while studying during my first year of university. It was incredibly tiring, especially since I lived on campus and the place where I worked was 2 hours away. My entire weekend was gone (which is actually better than some students who also work evenings during the week) and I wasn't able to do any studying. I was also trying for a faculty where I needed to keep my grades up. Anyways, I got into the faculty that I was trying for but I quit my job because I really just want to concentrate on studying. However, I'm thinking about volunteering (ex. research opportunities under professors) while studying in the summer.

When I was living on campus, I worked for on-campus work study programs. I worked in the cafeteria, library, and also did some intra-mural work (umpire for the games) it was great to get paid, but it didn't cut into my college study and schedule.
When I moved off campus into an apartment, I needed to find someway to pay the rent. I found a job as a cashier at a local grocery store, and worked as much as I could. It was good experience for me--to know how far a dollar can stretch. It also taught me to be careful with my dollar because I had to work really hard for it.
Ah memories... Thanks for bringing them up for me. I had forgotten some of the wonderful people I met while working at that little store!

I am actually currently struggling with a decision about working while in school. I have an unpaid job at a law office close to campus three days a week, but I am starting to get money problems, and I am considering getting a paid job with more hours. Unfortunately, since I want to go to law school, I have to keep my grades up. And by "up", I mean that I need to graduate with higher than a 3.5 GPA if I want to achieve my dreams in life. Because of this, I am very hesitant to get a job. I am afraid the obligation will be too heavy and I will have to neglect my schoolwork. It would be nice to have extra income and not worry about money though. It seems like it is a trade off. Either I am going to be worrying about money or worrying about my grades.
