I don't think Sara Palin initially sought to use McCain to boost her political future. I don't think she had aspirations to be VP or President any time in the near future until she was asked to be his running mate. It was kind of like McCain opened Pandora's box. I think that Sara Palin is ambitious and competitive. If it seemed sure that McCain would win, I think she would be trying her best to stay on message and adhering to the advice of the McCain camp. But now that the genie has been let out of the bag, she is interested in furthering her political career and she believes she can fast forward it past what her initial career path may have been. So now that McCain isn't doing so well in the presidential race, I think she is taking her career into her own hands and doing what she deems necessary to make a bid for the presidency on her own in the next election if things don't turn out well in this one.

I think Sarah has been all about Sarah from day one. Remember when she made the "slip-up" not too long after being selected and referred to the "Palin/McCain" ticket? I think that's who she really sees things, she thinks of herself as the top of the ticket. In the beginning she did give McCain a big bounce in the polls and a lot of people fell in love with her following her RNC Convention speech but then little by little her true colors started to show through to those who didn't see them from the beginning. She's not a team player and nothing in his history shows her tobe so. I also think she took credit for what looked like a successful campaign for a time but now she sure isn't willing to take any blame now that it's all fallen apart. I know there are some ultra conservatives who believe she has a great future but I don't think enough "real" Americans agree. Annie

Back in 1996, when Palin's campaign manager for her successful first bid for mayor said that she could see Palin as governor within ten years, Palin responded that she wanted to be president. Anyone who thinks that she wasn't considering her own political future when she accepted McCain's invitation has a whole lot more faith in people in general than I do. She is cutthroat ambitious - which isn't necessarily a bad thing in a politician - and is quite certainly looking out for herself and trying to make sure that as little of the mud slung by the McCain camp sticks to her.

I believe she honestly is running for VP but is hedging her bets. If her and McCain loose she can use this publicity to help move on the congress if she wants. A lot of politicans do that. Heck look at McCain and Obama. They are both in congress right now. So no matter what who ever does not get elected still has a job. A job I might add that they have still been getting paid for while they run for President instead of doing their jobs at congress. Anyone else feel ripped off by that? I mean come on, would you get paid for over a year to from one job that you were not really doing because you were interviewing for another job?

calling foul? I have not seen that story yet, or heard anything about that. No Sarah did not approach McCain about being the vp, McCain came to her, and offered the spot to her.

I think its obvious what Sarah Palin's intentions are with running as McCains VP nominee. Not only was she just a mayor of a small town in Alaska up until 2 years ago but before she accepted the VP nomination she didn't even know what a VP does on a daily basis nor does she even believe that dinosaurs were here 4000 years ago, and this is someone who could potentially be a heart beat away from the presidency?
