This is a photo of my convection space heater I use each winter. My dining room does not have a heat vent so it get's really cold in their this time of year. This is a convection heater so it has no oils and or coils that get hot and can cause a fire. It also has a safety turn off feature if it should tip or fall over. This is on mostly when someone uses the dining room or if it gets WAY below freezing for the most part. Sometimes I miove it a few feet into the office as I sit online myLotting. Do you use a space heater at all in the cold winter months? If so, what type do you use? How often is it turned on also? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I no longer use a space heater since I moved to Florida. But when I live in Ohio we had two we used every year. One space heater had an area where you could place water in it and use it as a humidifier. It helped to keep mositure in the air that space heaters have a habit of taken out. I use to live in a big old drafty house that was built pre 1900's.

es, it is warm to the touch ot hot. I set my gloves and hat on it to dry in the wintertime with no problems. Convection heaters are great. They generate a lot of heat at a decent use of elctricity. Plus they do not get hot to the touch. This one cost me $70 4 years ago. They run about that much for a decent room siozed one like the photo. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I have one of the old space heaters, it uses natural gas. It works amazingly well. My kitchen does get cold specially by the sink and water pipes. Thats on a back outide wall. I had used a oil filled portable radiator for that corner on cold nights. I can't use that anymore the pup we had chewed the cord. I have an electric baseboard heater that I can use when it gets real cold. I really like the oil filled radiators, they work good and are energy efficient. I would like to get another one to use.

I can't use any other type with dad here really. He is a tad clumsy so I'm afraid he'd tip it over. I have a long electric space heater in my garage. May use that in the basement this year also. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I am not sure when the last time was that we used a space heater but when we had one it was electric and it sure did heat up to be small. It was one that belonged to my mother that she used to use when she was sitting at the sewing machine to keep her feet warm in the winter time.

It is to the point where heating by an electrical space heater is cheaper than my gas furnace. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

We have a baseboard heater in one bedroom and in the living room we use a kerosene heater, but we haven't started that up yet..And in the bathroom we have a space heater..I am hoping, though my husband being off work all this time has been rough, that we can get some help we couldn't get before because he made too much..

I don't like using space heaters, I don't trust them. There have been so many fires and houses burnt down because of those, I guess people don't keep an eye on them. We have a radiant heater, it has oil in it that heats up when its turned on, we keep it in the kitchen, and I'll turn it off if I'm leaving the house. The back part of the house from the kitchen to the bedrooms always stay cold, so it helps some.

We have one gas furnace in the living room, the other gas furnace was shut off by my request when we first moved into this duplex 4 years ago because there was a gas leak coming from it and the maintenance man told me he has never fix a gas furnace like the one we had so I told him to shut it off for good.. But it is located in a bad location right in center of the hallway and at the time my son was 2 and I had nightmare of him tripping on it and hurting himself because it was located in such a awkward place. But now we have one gas furnace that heats the front living room & the first bedroom next to it. And the rest of the duplex is heated by electric heaters, the newer safer electric heaters that turn off if they get too hot or if they get knocked over. We stayed pretty warm last winter and hopefully this one as well:)

Space Heaters - are nice but very dangerous if not used properly
Yes we use space heaters in our house in two rooms, one our bedroom and the other is in the office. Neither one of the rooms put out enough heat to warm it up and so the space heaters help out quite a bit or we'd be in either place with jackets on all the time. lol We don't have to fall over turn of feature but trust me, we're very careful that they don't fall over or are put close to anything because we sure as hell don't want a fire!

My new halogen heater - My new halogen heater that produces both light and heat. It has 2 levels of power and is able to turn from one side to the other heating at a degree of about 75 degrees spread area.
Hi there Grandpa Bob. I have an old one that was used until this year (it was a red heating bars type), and a new one that we know use instead because it's more economical (it's a halogen model) that also produces light (if i am watching a movie or something i can just keep that on and shut off the light. I must say that i only use this additional heater when they don't give us heat (i live in a condo, and we have heat provided through the watering system but doesn't kick in in the first day of cold, but after a few).

We had a lovely big open fire when we first got married - but about 12 years ago we had a slow combustion heater built into the fireplace. It's great, because we can still see the flames without smoke getting into the room - and it uses far less wood.

Our house is totally electric and we have vents in every room. But, it gets chilly and we had gas logs put in our Den fire place. We can set them to automatic or manual. We just close off some of the rooms when we have it on and it will warm about half our house. It gets warmer quicker than the electric heat unless we have the heat on real high. We try not to run it too high in the winter to keep down the power bills. This winter we will really watch it since our power bills are going up!!

We usually use Kerosene heaters, this year we also got a few electric space heaters so that if we run out of kerosene since it is so high that we won't get frost bite on our bum's. We have one space heater that looks like a radiator and a few that if they falls over will shut off automatically. We only plug them up using a surge protector so that it will kick the protector breaker if something goes wrong or it gets to hot so it is good to use them be less house fires that way.

my parents have a space heater which they use in their basement rec room and it looks like a fan type and gives off quite a bit of heat. we dont sit in our basement for any length of time to warrent anything like that. i usually wear an extra sweatshirt here if i am cold (sometimes i snuggle under a blanket when i am watching tv.) its saves us money.

I have a quartz heater that I use to heat up my bedroom. My house is a split level, and with our heating system, the upstairs doesn't get warm as the downstairs. The little quartz heater is ugly, but does a great job. It heats up instantly, and will sound an alarm and shut off if tips or becomes too hot. I like to move it around to heat the bathroom before I go in to take a shower. I've had that little heater for over ten years, and a couple of days ago I lent it to my daughter because her furnace was getting repaired. The last couple of nights I had to sleep with a hat on to keep my head warm.

I just dress warmer. I know they're safer now than they used to be but they make me nervous and use a lot of electricity.

I can't believe summer /the warmer months are over . I am still in summer mode LOL.Today it is freezing and there is snow mixed with rain . I have just a run of the mill heater in the basement . My family their heater broke and they used a space heater in the living room and bedroom and it helped to a point . Thankfully it is fixed now and they can just use the space heater in the cooler den type room. I might use one in my sun room this year because i only use that room in the summer mostly . Have a great day

We are currently using only space heaters. Our land lady brought us a convection heater, but we have yet to take it out of the box and use it. Our house is pretty old, so it had gas heat, which is way to expensive these days. So far so good with the space heaters, though you may hear me complaining as it gets colder!!
