does anybody think that 15 or 14 is to young to babysit a new born or baby sit at all? I don't think it is too young to babysit. usually people that old is responsible. Babysitting some kids is a easy job. I say that because if the kid is really out of control you might want to think about it.

14-15 years is not too young to babysit an older child but it definitely is too young to babysit a newborn. A new born child has so many needs that cannot be handled by a 15 year old.
Having said that, if a 15 year old has been around a new born full time and can manage alone...then it might be fine. But I would think many times before I left my new born with a 15 year old...a 4 year old...yes...but not a new born.

hi
This age - 14 to 16 - is really a very puzzling age group. Who are young or who aren't it explicitly depends on their upbringing and basic characteristics. I know a girl of age 15, who acts like a silly kid. Whereas her brother was much more matured at that age. I really don't know what exactly this age group is.
So, one may develop maturity while another one is yet to develop maturity. A very much confusing age group indeed.

If you think you are responsible enough... and someone is willing to trust you with their kids... then being 15 is not too young... but you should know that taking care of a new born or toddler is never easy... there are a lot of responsibilities that comes with it... and a new born baby should always be handled with care...

i think it depends on the kid. I was 11 when I first babysat a newborn and 2 toddlers. Looking back, even tho i was pretty good with kids, I'm not sure i'd trust any 11 year old. Then again, I know 15 & 16 year olds that need a sitter themselves more than most 10 year olds.

I think 14-15 year old kids are too young to babysit newborns but in this country I see kids as young as 12 look after their newborn brother or sister. I mean I think it is ok if the kid knows the baby well enough (his needs, etc.) Otherwise Entrusting it to someone who you have just known might not be a good idea. Of course I'm not saying that 14-15 year olds shouldn't be babysitting. What I'm saying is that as long as they are very responsible, they could babysit.
