Recommend a good, inexpensive scanner?

So it looks like I've burnt out my scanner. After taking countless cover scans it seems that the motor that drives the scanning bar is about to give up the ghost. I get bad colour, and bad resolution and sometimes it takes about three minutes to scan a Single magazine size cover. So time for a replacement. Can anybody recommend a good quality scanner that's pretty cheap? I see a Canon on Future Shed's website that's around $89. Sounds like a decent price and a decent name but is it any good?

I'm in the market for a new scanner too, mine was too old, I needed an upgrade. I mostly just do pics and make a picture dvd so I was leaning towards one of those printer scanners in one, I have heard good things about them.
