chocolate coins recalled.More than 3,000 kilograms of chocolates sold at Costco, Wholesale Ltd., dollar and bulk stores across Canada were recalled yesterday after the Canadian Food Inspection Agency found that the chocolates contain melamine.
The chocolates have a bar code of 0 36077 112407 and lot code of 1928S1. So ditch any chocolate coins that you find in the booty collected.
It's sad isn't it? We have to protect our kids from sickos. And now from companies too.

Oh my goodness thanks for this post. You are right it is getting to where it isn't safe anymore to take our kids trick or treating. Two bad they just couldn't give our vouchers from like McDonald,Wendy's or other places. I get the certificate from the fast food restaurants and give out as treats along with candy. But it is good to hear about the recall before it is to late. The kids in my area go trick or treating Thursday night so just in time to warn the mothers I know and around where I live. Thanks bunches I appreciate it,

it seems likely that the company did not realize that it was in, otherwise i don't think they would risk children's health however the fact that it is in shows the amount of worrying parents have to do. the company involved will surely issue an apology and everything will be fine, in the eyes of the food inspection agencies. Something similar happened in england with Cadburys, however with less then a year past, people have forgotten this and no still buy the product.

I just got an email on this and sent it on to all my friends. It is a sick world isn't it. Last year there was a scare with the DOTS candy. My daughter had tons of it so we went threw and tossed all of it. I feel bad for the people who bought this to give out~ they had no idea this would be recalled. It is scary that companies are doing this.

Dots candy had a scare last year? I hadn't heard of that and my little sister ate boxes of them. It is scary how things are getting now days maybe we should just go back to friends and family gatherings for Halloween and homemade stuff.

That sucks! My son loves those chocolate coins. When he was younger those were his bribe for getting his homework done without a fight. Got it! Gold foil covered chocolate coins get pitched in the trash. Hopefully people hear about it and throw them away before giving them to trick or treaters.

hi ers mommy!
oh that is tooo bad! i wonder who started this? because i really think that someone is out to get china with all these problems. i mean, i don't think china would want to affect the whole world this way because their economy relies so much on the export industry.
anyway, at least the problem was found out before any damage has been done.
take care mom! see you around!
God bless you!

I remember eating those chocolate coins when I was a younger girl. It is a shame that we have to worry so much about candy these days and the potential harm to our children.
It is good to have a watch dog to see what is going on these days. You really do your homework and my hat is off to you!

whoah... we'll be having our treat or trick tomorrow in our village and there would be around 80-100 children who'll participate. i'll have to remind the parents here in our village not to buy chocolate coins...
